St. Michael Defend Us In Battle

I think it was Gladstone or someone like him who said, "As it now stands, no power on earth can save the Church of England." The Grand Old Man had a point, that year maybe ten people and a dog turned up for Mass at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on Easter day. But that was then, in far-off C19, today?

Gladstone's words apply not just to the venerable if shrinking  COE but to the entire, Godless, corrupt, malfeasant, inverted, insane culture we live in. No earthly power can save it, problem. Solution? We need heavenly power to save us. So here's a prayer:

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

This Archangelic prayer in mind, do you think apostate earthly power, which is at heart demonic power, can withstand the terrible swift sword, the implacable, all-bright, relentless blade of divine truth wielded by the angelic host? No, like smoke, like chaff, like the dross it is, it will be blown away.

Do you think God has prolonged the time? It is clear, to me at least, that he has, as foretold, and the message is clear, repent, "turn and live."

Your Friend on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel,

LSP

As you may know, LSP, Pope Leo X111 had a vision in which God granted Satan 100 years to try and destroy the Church. The Pope ordered that this prayer be said after every Catholic Mass and it was said until Vat. 2 cancelled it.

Amen, Parson. I do believe I'll adopt this.

Anon- Many of the parishes here in SE Michigan recite the Leonine Prayers after Holy Mass. I am grateful I do not live within the confines of Chicago as his eminence BC does not permit the Saint Michael prayer. It begs the question: why?

I have to remind myself that God is timeless, so the crap continues to hit the fan. Sister Lucia said that the final battle would be against the family and it sure seems she is correct.

Thank you for posting this LSP!

One thing to always keep in mind is that God is in charge. All of us have our small microscopic parts to do in accordance with his will, but the final outcome is not in doubt and not dependent upon us. God wins in the end. Go read Revelation.

The world is a cruel and evil place, I am comforted by the words of Psalm 37 which begins "Fret not over evil-doers...". We need to have faith in God, and that God will make it all turn out all right. Our job is to do our very small parts as well as we can.

The Church(es) and its priests may not remember, but the Faithful do. More and more I see Faithful who have not gone to the Church(es) in a while but are still holy people.

So there is still hope. Like this Country, the People remember and still have faith even when those in power do not.

It's a multi-cyclical thing. Around every 200 -250 years is one cycle. Roughly 100 to 150 years in one cycle, another is about every 60 years or so. Slide up to faith, slide down to faithless, slide up, slide down... The convergence of the cycles greatly increases the suckage. Factors like, well, communism and socialism (which aren't new by any means) tend to elongate the suckage and slow the ascending slide (look at how faithful Russia is now when even 60 years ago the State openly hunted religious people.)

And, guess what? Yep, we're in that Suckage Convergence of all the cycles in combination with the Suckage factor of neofeudalism (feudalism without Christianity, it does make a difference) and the Suckage factor of Socialism/Communism (we here in the US are national socialists in our govenrment - prove me wrong.)

Which means hard times for all for a while before the slide up to more faith, if we don't have the actual End of Days coming (which I sincerely hope not. As much as I would like to meet Jesus, I want to do it upstairs and not on this Earthly plane, ifn you know what I mean.)

Yes indeed, anon.

We say it often at the Missions.

A very powerful prayer, Wild, and be warned, it'll put you over the target. Seriously.

Thanks, DOS!

And what, it's FORBIDDEN in Chicago? Wow. Sorry, I'm perhaps a little naive.

All the more reason to say it, often, eh?

Well said, John, and for sure, a lot of small parts well played make a big part. No small thing.

Play into the victory.

Totally agree, Beans, and good cyclical call, it's been on my mind lately.

Imagine, as I'm sure you have, the reaction to the current rainbow orthodoxy. It won't be pretty.
