The Russians equate negroes with monkeys. I realize that it's not politically correct to make that sort of equation here in the US - but it's their point of view.
And they can't understand why a country like the US would elect Obama. They're not alone in that.
When I take my daughter to kindergarten in the mornings, I stay for the school assembly. Which means I dutifully face the flags on the stage and recite the pledges along with the students right before we all head our separate ways.
While it's not very patriotic of me, I can't deny that I feel a much stronger sense of pride while saying the Texas pledge than the US one...

I loved the seventeen years I spent in Houston. Wild times...
I consider myself half Texan.
Haven't had the pleasure of living there, but I've visited. I'm an honorary Texan... because Miss Della said so!
The Russians aren't too fond of Obama and their students taunt him.
Baffling, isn't it.
I'm 1/2 Texan too, Adrienne (my mother's from Denton). No bad thing to be.
You're definitely a Texan honoris causa, Brighid!
I think that I need to get my hips to a Texas Consulate and apply for a visa.
My California address would likely DQ me.

I'll be happy to act as a reference if you need one, LL.
