Texas Winter Paradise

It's a beautiful sunny morning in rural Texas. Squirrels gambol, birds sing, roosters are crowing and crazed peacocks shriek and scream.

Blue Scallywag takes this as his cue to gallop, romp and play. I throw him a tennis ball, which causes great joy in the canine world. But, in this vale of tears, all good things must come to end, which means I have to leave this bucolic paradise and drive to Dallas.

To buy Christmas presents. And that's just the way it is on the front lines of the War.

On Weather.

My old half-Blue girl Selkie, would wear my arm out before she'd tire of chasing a tennis ball!

They love a tennis ball... and that's weird, your second comment somehow disappeared. Try resending...

Good luck with the crowds wherever things are sold. I think that I'd have driven into Waco before I'd shop in Dallas. But that's just me.

The drive was maniacal -- but I had to check in with HQ. And why do I always fail to get presents earlier than a couple of days before Christmas? Must have a stern word with intel.

We have been getting unseasonably mild weather here in eastern Canada and it reminds me of January in Texas, cool mornings and getting warmer through the day. There is a freshness in the early part of the day. Wish I was a snowbird.

Nice. I second what Julie C said. Today was sunny and warmish in Ontario. I went for a run in hat, coat, and gloves and was overheating at 1km into it. That plus I've gotten plump this year, which didn't help. Winter is conspicuously absent in these parts.
I heard today that most people don't finish Christmas shopping until the 23rd or even 24th. I finished mine today. Didn't have to drive all that far, either.

I hear Calgary was -25 (with wind chill) the other day -- I'll have to wrap up warm. T shirt weather in Texas, bizarrely.

Glad it's fresh in the morning, Julie, and congrats on the shopping, Padre!
