Lords of Light

I put a tree up today in Dallas, the very same one I got a week ago. I thought it looked pretty good in its stand. A little small perhaps, but full.

After the tree was up it was time for a few glasses of fortification and then lights. I put on a fair few; I think it's better that way.

Decorations can come later, nearer Christmas, but I did put a fairy on the tree, sorry, angel. There's a difference, trust me.

The angel has a wax head and was made in Germany. My parents bought it in Milwaukee, back in the olden days, when they still made angels out of wax.

I love the smell of a Christmas tree. The lights can be adjusted as the thing settles.

Evergreen and the ongoing battle of the sons of light against the sons darkness...with a reminder that we are loved and watched over.

Symbolism is important.

Lovely angel! I hope Blue Supervisor approves of your lighting job.

Thanks, Euripides, and to you too!

Blue Advent enjoyed supervising, in a silent but watchful kind of way.

Isn't today a feast?

Shouldn't you be eating instead of blogging?

I try to get the odd bite of scoff in between posts. You know what it's like, in the fast-paced world of educational blogging.

I see Blue .... is keeping good watch on the porch.... lol

I've noticed a strange thing about Blue Watchman, Julie. He hates Democrats, obviously, but he also dislikes hillbilly potheads. When he sees one he barks, growls and goes on the attack. Strangest thing. Maybe he was badly treated by one.

You guys do have a lot of feasts. What's Blue Garbage Truck going to do in order to control his weight?

Lots of exercise is the answer. That and no more "coffee hour" (feed dog hour) after Mass.

I think that Blue Savage needs to go hunting and fishing more both to work off the results of the doughnuts and cookies and to commune with nature. As his conservator, you of course, would be required to hang with him just to chaperone him and keep safe from feral hawgs and pit bulls.

That's a very sound plan!

What an awesome tree and angel. I guess I best be adding to my spindly little thing...
There's nothing like Real Tree.

A real tree is a great thing, I always think!

It's beautiful just as it is, with the lights and angel. and a Blue dog.

Regarding the Blue crumb vacuum: my pastor at the campus ministry had a dachshund named Welsey, who cleaned up after the students a little too well, and we all had to put him on a diet of "no more begging." I found out, after the pastor moved to a new church, that the little old ladies there fed Wes too well.

Blue Beggar has a right to the food that you're denying him.

It's sort of the same way that the prettiest girl in the bar has guys buy drinks for her, unbidden.

I think that it's Darwinian -- natural selection. They'll give Blue ApexPredator food before they'd give it to you or me because of the awwww, isn't he cute factor.

Thanks, Anonymous, and I know what you mean -- lights and angel seem almost good enough on their own. Then there's Blue Eschaton...

They seem to love doing that, Mattexian. I wish they didn't.

I know, LL. But they haven't seen the titanium teeth yet...
