"Dear Santa," writes the smirking atheist girl to her imaginary friend, "All I want for Christmas is to skip church." The substantial little disbeliever then goes on to explain herself. She's too old, apparently, "to believe in fairy tales."
Why does she believe in Santa, then?
Maybe she wants to have her cake and eat it too, but speaking of fairy tales,

If Atheists don't want to celebrate Christmas in the West, it's not as if they live in Saudi Arabia and want to eat a BLT (and will be beheaded for their trouble).
All atheists need do is not put up a tree or exchange gifts. They can celebrate Festivus, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or the Witch Solstice holiday and still feel festive.
Blue Moocher will likely celebrate Christmas by accepting hand-outs from parishioners who feel that he's needy, and hungry ("Ah, look at those eyes").
Blue Beggar's eyes work a weird magic on the older women of the Missions.
Of course the atheists hate Christmas, not dissimilar to the Puritans, curiously.
The Puritans thought themselves too good for a party. The Atheists feel the same way.
You never catch am Atheist working on Christmas Day. Bloody Part-Timers.
I couldn't care less that atheists choose not to celebrate Christmas. But I do expect the same courtesy from them for my choice to celebrate Christmas, which they don't seem to be able to give.
I always think it's strange that they turned into Unitarians, LL.
Totally agree, Anonymous.
I'd say they want to ban us altogether, Euripides...
Atheists are by their very nature, progressive, therefore they would be pleased to see us all removed with extreme prejudice.
