Eleven Trends For The New Year

 

Here's a retrospective on 2022 and eleven trends we can look forward to in 2023, via Virtual Mirage:

As we close out 2022, I thought it would be a good idea to identify and discuss 11 trends and hard truths for the sake of saying things out loud that the media should be reporting on fairly and investigating but too often is not. These are big-picture items that stand to impact many, if not most of us, in a big way.

1. Illegal immigration. Each day that passes is another day that makes it impossible to go back, even if the border were to be secured immediately. We will be dealing forever with the fallout of unrestricted, illegal border crossings in terms of expense, crime, impact on our schools, and an already stressed healthcare system.

2. Covid. There is ongoing fallout from controversial vaccine mandates. Congress has rescinded the military mandates but not before tens of thousands or more received the vaccine under duress, and many thousands were forced out. We already had a recruiting crisis and it’s only grown worse. A judge has ordered New York City to hire back more than 1,700 workers fired for refusing the vaccine. What’s the state’s response? It is appealing. We are also dealing with the costs and health impact of those who got vaccinated and are suffering illnesses. Some of them are permanently disabled. Some have died. There is an ongoing cost to our youth, who do not tend to get very sick with Covid but who are at risk of serious illness from the vaccine.

3. College costs. With discussion and debate focused on loan forgiveness–  or more accurately transferring the cost of outstanding loans to taxpayers– it does nothing to cure the overinflated and unjustifiable cost of a college education. The same syndrome is in play with health care costs. The fact that the government ensures these bills will get paid using taxpayer money and loans, grants, scholarships, Medicare, etc., only ensures the corporations can charge outrageous amounts of money for the services. If it weren’t for government and private medical insurance, and loans and grants, then few could afford the overinflated medical and education costs and the prices would, by necessity, have to come down. The government is the cause of these problems and could solve them, but will not because elected officials are part of the system that benefits. They get donations from industries, academic institutions, hospitals, the insurance industry, pharmaceutical companies, and others to help them stay in office and positions of power. Thus, their solutions by necessity will continue to feather their nests always at our expense.

4. January 6, 2021. (I’ll be reporting on this topic in an upcoming edition of Full Measure.) This event stands out as one of the most outrageous events of our time in terms of how it’s prosecuted by government officials. There are clearly political motivations and double standards in play, with what seems to be an obvious plan in advance to controversialize anyone who turned out to support Donald Trump and question the 2020 election. The apparent goal? To neutralize these people and anyone else who dared to think of questioning elections or supporting Trump.

5. Transgenderism in medicine, media, politics, education, advertising— you name it. Virtually unheard of just a few years back except as part of a mental health discussion largely limited to a psychiatric diagnosis — suddenly it’s everywhere! Like other narratives, there are organized, well-funded efforts behind the transgender lobby and, as I’ve written in my books, these powerful forces have been able to co-opt nearly every form of information in order to make fringe beliefs appear to be the norm shared by nearly everyone.

6. Health crises. From rampant chronic health issues, to autism, autoimmune disorders, and new diseases such as POTS, the government is typically only funding research on issues that the pharmaceutical industry wants to be funded and is only finding answers that the industry and special interests want to be found. Since it’s not in any big industry’s interest to identify the multi-exposure causes likely behind many health issues, these studies won’t be funded. I would argue that much if not most legitimate research that needs to be done to answer important health questions is being blocked or not funded.

7. Government control. The government is so tied into funding everyone and everything today, including private companies through contracts and incentives, it can control policies and actions far outside what is supposed to be in the government’s reach. Covid vaccines were one such example. By threatening to push private hospitals by withholding Medicare payments, the government was able to force policies upon them. By refusing to reimburse for certain medical treatments, the government can make sure certain treatments– even if important and effective– aren’t used. This government power is especially dangerous when the government takes part in corrupt or politically-motivated agendas.

8. Scientific fraud. I’ve reported on and written much about how the scientific and medical industries have been largely taken over by vested interests making it hard to get accurate medical information. Some of the best evidence comes from top scientists at medical journals such as Lancet’s Dr. Richard Horton, and Dr. Marcia Angell, formerly of the New England Journal of Medicine. They have said that much or most science in medical journals is not be believed today due to the undue influence of the pharmaceutical industry on studies and what does or doesn’t get published.

9. FBI and intel agency corruption. One of the biggest scandals of our time that is drastically underreported is widespread corruption at high levels in our intel agencies, as exposed in their schemes to frame Donald Trump. Even when agents and officials commit lapses and crimes, they are rarely held to account in any meaningful way. Recall former FBI director James Comey was referred by the Inspector General for criminal charges in his efforts to damage Trump but the Dept. of Justice took a pass on prosecuting him. Only one FBI lawyer was (lightly) prosecuted in one of the most outrageous crimes of its kind: doctoring a document to obtain a wiretap on Trump campaign associate Carter page… who never got so much as an apology. And that FBI attorney didn’t even get jail time. And there seemed to be no effort to identify and prosecute the others that were in that chain, signing off on false information or staying silent about it.

10. FISA court scandals. One of the most powerful and secretive courts, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, has confirmed rampant FBI lapses or misconduct when it comes to applications for secret wiretaps to spy on US citizens. However, nobody has been held to account.

11. Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. I rank this as the single most important development when it comes to censorship and the government/industry’s grip on our information. It is sad that it took a scorned billionaire– remember Musk was notably left out of Biden Administration invites on car and green energy discussions because he apparently doesn’t blindly support organized labor/labor unions– to do the job that the media, elected officials, and intel agencies all failed to do: expose censorship, corruption, and election interference within a top Big Tech company. Though one of the biggest stories of our time, it is still widely ignored or slanted by the news media, which is opting for stories about how bad it is for Musk to be running Twitter rather than the previous government-corporate minders.

Happy New Year!

 

Well here are at the start line of 2023. What will it bring? I'll wager the fighting monkey on any three of your non-binary trans priestesses that we're in store for more bad craziness. Witness the presumably unironically named SATANCON 2023 scheduled for Boston in April. Boston, curiously, is home to Harvard, Satan's Vatican.

But don't worry, devotees of the Pit, you may be heading for Hell but at least you'll be vaxxed and masked up while you're at it. Conference organizers stipulate, "Satancon attendees must be 18 or over and have proof of COVID vaccination. Attendees must wear an N-95, KN-95, or disposable surgical mask. Gaiters, bandanas, and cloth masks will not be allowed." Not dissimilar, when you think of it, to entering the US and Canada last year.

So yes, all kinds of demonic insanity's doubtless heading our way. But let's not forget that today's the Feast of the Holy Name, Jesus, God Saves. Only He unites our nature to God, illumines us with the fullness of divine truth, dies on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins, rises victorious from the grave and ascends to heaven, taking perfected, risen humanity to the throne of glory. Only in Him do we find union with God and life itself, salvation.

Stand fast in the power of the Name and be sure that the gates of Hell will not prevail, even in 2023. With that, have a happy New Year.

Shrines on New Years Eve

 

After reading LL's reflection on Guan Gong, it struck me that 1: I do not have a shrine or even a statue of the Chinese God of War but 2: I do have a shrine. It's just above my desk, aka "kitchen counter" and consists of a flag, crucifix and an Our Lady of Walsingham prayer card.

Not very warlike perhaps but appropriate for a padre, I think. That said, pistols, kukris, assorted bay'nets and knives have been known to find their way onto the multifunctional worksurface of the office, ahem, kitchen.

Speaking of which, many clergy keep something called "office hours." Off they drive to their churches, sit at a desk from 9-5 and then go home to their place in the suburbs. Almost as though they've taken "middle management" as some kind of beastly model or paradigm for ministry.

Never done such a thing, with one notable exception I've always lived next to the church. On the job which isn't a job but a way of life. That this has been in rural Texas for over a decade is providential, God has been very kind.

What is This Excel Degeneracy?

 

Just in. The UK's Excel Centre, a massive event venue set in the heart of London's bustling Canary Wharf deadzone financial district, is hosting DragCon on 6-8 January 2023. What is DragCon UK 2023? Just a kid-friendly drag show featuring young boys dressed up as junior prostitutes walking down a runway.

Did anyone say pedophile groomer, and if not why not. What utter abhorrence. And on point, what kind of parents would so abuse their children this way? For that matter, how would any sane culture defend and promote such wickedness.

Answer being, of course, that the culture's not sane, it's been driven bad crazy by the infernal power. Baphomet, as this simple mind-blog never tires of reiterating, is notoriously trans. And you'll note, scandalized onlookers, that Satan always abandons his own. No fooling.

That in mind, perhaps it's no accident that GM's funding trans libraries for US kindergartens, and that London's Excel Centre's owned by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company. Last I heard, the Unied Arab Emirates was against transgenderism, in fact it's illegal in their country, as is dancing.

So what's this all about? Apart from the urgent need to boycott hideous, ugly and overpriced Crocs.

Drones And A Prayer

 

No, not the Club, much as we love it, just the Christmas Quad. And what a grand hotel quad it is, flying merrily throughout the storied rooms of the Compound on its various missions. Lights on, drone action, here we go.

Training, if you like, get those piloting skills in if you've got any sense for the year ahead because guess what, anything could happen in 2023. I kid you not and perhaps you agree. In the meanwhile, we're celebrating the Feast of the Holy Innocents. Here's a prayer:

O ALMIGHTY God, who out of the mouths of babes and sucklings hast ordained strength, and madest infants to glorify thee by their deaths; Mortify and kill all vices in us, and so strengthen us by thy grace, that by the innocency of our lives, and constancy of our faith even unto death, we may glorify thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Yet More Rainbow Skulduggery

 

This time from the venerable if shrinking Church of England and All Saints with Holy Trinity in Loughborough, Leicestershire. Their crime? Getting people to sing a risible rainbow rewrite version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman in a carol service on Monday.

The new inclusive version of the grand old 17th century carol doesn't include those awkward verses referring to Christ as Saviour and his birth on Christmas day, much less setting us "free from Satan's power when we had gone astray." No, all that's gone, replaced with miserable imprecations on behalf of "erased" women and the "queer and questioning," whoever the latter might be.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols mildly rebuked this torrid malfeasance, telling Times Radio:

I think what Christmas does, and many other moments, it tells us the importance of ritual. Ritual helps us to step outside of our own little bubble and connect with something we have received, inherited and that we hope to pass on.

Those values are the continuation of musical repertoire, of the ability to sing together, of looking at the rituals that have been fashioned over centuries

Those are probably for me more important than particular sensitivities which come and go.

 

Roughly translated, "I am a gentleman, this is appalling." Others were less kind, with one member of the Church of England's Synod, Sam Margrave, blasting, "Absolutely disgusted an act of worship to our Lord and Saviour is being used to push political ideology contrary to Church of England teaching."

Quite. But for how long? Here at the Compound we marvel at the sheer dropped-on-head-as-infant idiocy of it all and apologize to Loughborough on behalf of the ecclesial cringe mountebanks of All Saints. But we're also confused. Why was there no mention of transsexuals in the so-called "inclusive" carol? 

While we're at it, how inclusive is a Christianity which excludes actual Christians. You see, if you throw the baby out with the bathwater, in this case Christ, you don't have an awful lot left. Someone fire their PR firm. Thanks.

Boxing Day Report

 

Well that was a lot of fun. A delicious rib roast, cooked to medium rare perfection, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, carrots, and tasty as you like gravy conjured from the roasting pan. Good work, team, and well appreciated by a young soldier. And all served on these awesome plates, have a look:

But food and Confederate crockery weren't the stars of this Christmas show, no, that honor belonged to a drone. What a nifty little beast! Off it zoomed, hovered and ran on recce missions over the Compound's back yard and perimeter.

So that was useful, chalk it up to "training." But now it's Boxing Day and the Feast of St. Stephen, Deacon and Martyr. Reflect on that. We no sooner celebrate the Nativity than we find ourselves honoring martyrs, Stephen and the Holy Innocents.

The message is clear, witness, μαρτυρία, martyrdom, flows from the Incarnation. Christ lives in us, as he lived in Bethlehem, and we must incarnate this. Where does that end? For St. Stephen it ended in execution. For us? Who knows, but rest assured of this.

What Happens When...

You don't pay the Army, in this case the National Guard. Do you think the unpaid soldiers will be eager to enforce the orders and commands of their DC rulers? Of course they will, they'll be leaping over the top of their unpaid dugouts to do the bidding of their beloved elite leaders.

I know it's really strange, but not getting paid over Christmas for duty done has an effect on morale. Via the Post Millenial:

Bomb Cyclone Winter Eschaton

 

Many of you will laugh and shake your heads in scorn, but it's cold in Texas. Like no kidding, there's ice and even some snow. "Look," I announced in awe to a young soldier, "Snow, see it?" It took a while but he did, "Oh yeah, literal snow, wow." A few wind-driven icy flakes of it anyway.

So layer up, pull on an Arcteryx fleece, dust off the Carhart and face the new Ice Age. Such, my friends, is global warming. You see, the hotter it gets, thanks to people not paying carbon taxes, the colder it becomes.

I was struck by this, driving into a golden sunset across Lake Whitney dam to say Mass as clouds of mist steamed up from the water. Climate change can be dramatic, no doubt about it. Let's zoom in:

The Sacrament confected and the Sacrifice offered, ite missa est, it was time to drive back to the Compound, wary of black ice and grateful for the privilege of being able to celebrate the Eucharist. Where angels fear to tread, eh?

UK Woman Arrested For Thought Crime

 

UK pro-life activist Isabel Vaughan-Spruce was arrested this month outside of a Birmingham abortion mill. Her crime? Praying silently in her mind near one of the United Kingdom's new censorship zones, which protect abortionists by criminalizing "any act of approval or disapproval or attempted act of approval or disapproval” in relation to abortion, including “verbal or written means, prayer or counselling…"

Isabel Vaughan-Spruce was spotted by a satanic informer an onlooker who suspected her of praying and reported the heinous crime to police who searched, interrogated and arrested the activist. Released on bail, Spruce is charged with four counts of breaking Birmingham Council's Public Space Protection Order, which forbids silent prayer outside abortion facilities.

According to Anglican Ink, the pro-life thought criminal found her treatment "abhorrent:"

It’s abhorrently wrong that I was searched, arrested, interrogated by police and charged simply for praying in the privacy of my own mind. Censorship zones purport to ban harassment, which is already illegal. Nobody should ever be subject to harassment. But what I did was the furthest thing from harmful – I was exercising my freedom of thought, my freedom of religion, inside the privacy of my own mind. Nobody should be criminalised for thinking and for praying, in a public space in the UK.

 

The UK's rulers in Parliament are currently weighing up legislation to nationalize censorship zones around abortion businesses, making it illegal to influence, advise, persuade, inform or occupy space within 150 meters of the profit centers.

You can read all about it here, here and everywhere else. But question. How insecure can these people be when they feel the need to ban prayer, in a person's mind, outside of their euphemistic "clinics." Apparently very, at least in the UK. And we have to ask, where does this end?

I think we all know, in the gulag or worse, witness our J6 political prisoners held without trial for a solid two years. In the meanwhile, if you live in the UK, don't you dare criticize the anti-sacrament of abortion, even in your mind, unless you want to get cuffed and taken into custody.

So what's driving this craze that's sweeping the nation like wildfire, you know, hauling your kids off to watch drag queens get lewd and tell stories? Because that's so helpful to children. What kind of parent would do that?

Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame came out swinging against the repellent Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, aka "Harry & Meghan," in his column for the UK's beloved Sun tabloid. Clarkson admitted to hating Meghan on a "cellular level" and more besides.

Comparing Markle to Scotland's despised Premiere and serial killer Rose West, Clarkson stated, "Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level."

What is it about this simpering, hypocritical, private jet flying, money grubbing, attention seeking, whining, crawled outta the LA ghetto  D List celeb which inspires such hatred, right down to the very cells of a person's being?

Good question and I like the way this remarkably privileged, overhyped wannabe princess feels put upon by Europe's leading monarchy. So let's insult your Grandmother-in-Law right after her death. Even common people don't so that, but what am I saying? Markle, now we really hate you.

Colonel Burnaby - Victorian Hero

 

Few today, especially in the States, have heard of him but Colonel Frederick Burnaby was legendary in Victorian England as a hero. And no wonder, standing at an athletic 6.4", this son of a clergyman was famous for being able to vault over billiard tables, bend pokers with his bare hands and much more besides.

Joining the Horseguards in 1859 at the age of 17, Burnaby fast secured a reputation for strength, intellect, good humor and a restless spirit. This drove him to take lengthy periods of leave in adventurous pursuits and that's exactly what they were.

He worked as a war correspondent for  the Times in the Carlist civil war in Spain, went political (intel officer) in Egypt, the Balkans and most famously Central Asia, riding in the latter case some 900 miles on a pony to Khiva. Read the book, if you haven't already, Road to Khiva.

Taking time out from the Army, our adventurous Life Guard went into politics as an old skool Tory in league with Winston Churchill's father, Lord Randolph Churchill. They set up the Primrose League and Burnaby ran unsuccessfully for office in Birmingham.

Undaunted, he rejoined the Colours to serve against the Mahdist uprising in the Sudan where he initially distinguished himself for using a shotgun against the Moslem fanatics, and was mentioned in Dispatches for his bravery, returning home to yet more heroic accolade. But the Sudan wasn't a done thing and Burnaby returned to the fight as part of General Gordon's rescue mission, only to meet his end at the battle of Abu Klea.

He was stabbed through the neck by a Mohammedan spear whilst rescuing wounded men from outside the Square. He died as he lived, a hero, and the soldiers under his command wept at his death. He spoke seven languages, was the first man to cross the English Channel by balloon, authored several books (read Kiva) and was loved by the men he bravely served.

On hearing of his death, Queen Victoria wrote in her diary of "poor, strange Burnaby." Yes readers, there were giants in those days.

Fr. Pavone Fired For Blasphemy - What?

 

Fr. Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life has been cancelled, removed from the priesthood. Via Lifesite News:

Given all the rhetoric we have heard during the first year of the so-called Synod on Synodality, it is clear that the “listening Church” is making a mockery of justice.

Here’s what we know so far: Catholic News Agency reports that a December 13 letter to all bishops in America, sent from the Pope’s representative in America – the Papal Nuncio Fr. Christophe Pierre – says that Fr. Pavone was laicized for “blasphemous communications on social media” and “persistent disobedience of the lawful instructions of his diocesan bishop.”

Faithful Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas has a response to that:

“The blasphemy is that this holy priest is canceled while an evil president promotes the denial of truth & the murder of the unborn at every turn, Vatican officials promote immorality & denial of the deposit of faith & priests promote gender confusion devastating lives…evil,” he said on Twitter.

In a separate statement, the papal nuncio wrote that the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy – the head of the Vatican’s department dealing with priests – said that there was “no possibility of appeal” of the decision.

This, during a week in which Pope Francis is receiving criticism for his lenient behavior towards Slovenian priest-artist—and alleged sexual abuser—Fr. Marko Ivan Rupnik. This, in the midst of never-ending scandals–financial, moral, and theological–involving  Vatican-based prelates like suspected embezzler Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu and the egregious president of the once great Pontifical Academy for Life, Cardinal Vincenzo Paglia. This, while clerical heretics attempt to destroy the Catholic faith in Germany from within.

This, this is beyond belief.

 

So let's get this straight. You can be a German bishop promoting same-sex marriage, peddle for Grindr sex in the Vatican Gardens, contradict every aspect of the Church's teaching, be an episcopal member of the atheist Chinese Communist Party and get a pass. But dare to speak truth to power and champion the sanctity of life? Sorry, fella, services no longer required, SNLR.

I say the whole thinks reeks of wickedness and corruption and you might agree. But hold on, just what exactly were these "blasphemous communications on social media"? Serious question. In the meanwhile, I'm aghast if not surprised.

We've Been Conned

 

A few years ago I flew to Calgary with my eldest son to visit family after Christmas. Because he was/is serving and we were flying AA, the airline upgraded us to 1st class. What a welcome surprise and how pleasant, there we were, flying to the land of the ice and snow with room to breathe, metal cutlery, decent food, glasses made of actual glass and all of that.

Gazing out of the window of the plane in search of UFOs I thought about this and it all came back to me, flying used to be this way, for everyone. But now? You have to be rich to afford yesteryear's standard of comfort and quality.

The same thought flashed across the mental horizon while strolling in Newtown, Edinburgh, earlier this year. All these beautiful Georgian houses which are mostly cut up into apartments, you have to be rich to own and live in a whole one today.

I said as much to barrister pal who lives in Leith and was showing us around, "Yes," he replied, "Only the wealthy can afford the lifestyle of the old middle classes." Again, in beautiful Ludlow, within the orbit of the old medieval city wall you never have to go to a supermarket. There's three butchers, bakers, green grocers, cheese shops, 2 fishmongers and on. 

All of this was commonplace, if not so picturesque, not that long ago but now you have to be well favored to live in a place like Ludlow. You know, maybe here in the States people who live in Martha's Vineyard have that kind of old world luxury.

Point being, all of the above wasn't luxury so very long ago, just the way people lived, and I tell you this, we've been conned. As our part of the world's wealth has increased so too should our standard of living. But no, in many respects it's declined and quite literally; your Dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. And no wonder, it's an instrument of debt at interest to the private consortium of bankers that is the Fed.

They, the people profiting off of the way we live now, are doing very well. They're mostly invisible and can enjoy the storied delights of private islands via their private jets while we count ourselves lucky to get an apartment the staff used to live in. Yes indeed, but what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? 

This isn't a screed against wealth, eye of the needle aside I wish we all had more, but it is a caveat. We've been had, conned, and further complacence will only exacerbate the problem. Churches, I'm looking at you. OK, good luck with that.

Either way, leftist heads are exploding all over the universe and we have to ask, don't they like their own medicine?

This humble mind blog remains permanently banned from Twister. I regard that as a badge of honor.
