You Dirty Little Beast!

Guns are great, we love them, they spell freedom and they're awesome in and of themselves, plus they're fun to shoot. But here's the thing, if you shoot them they get dirty, filthy dirty, and if you don't clean them they don't work. Useless.

Deadly gas guns especially. Great fun, no doubt about it, and all very well regulated militia, but they're a pain to clean, thanks a lot, gas impingement system. Still, it works and works well, if you can afford the ammo, which is questionable for most.

In related news, the people of Sri Lanka rose up and overthrew their dirty, corrupt, GloboHomo Green Government, chasing their beloved GreenCorpRainbow leader out of the country, and who can blame them? No more farms or food for you, serfs, we're going green! Pan to enraged mob storming presidential palace.

A harbinger of things to come? That in mind, a clean gun is a happy gun.

Time To Shoot Again

There it was, another beautiful, clear, already ovenlike morning in country Texas, another day to shoot. This time at Chandler's range just outside of Valley Mills where I RV'd with some church people. Of course I was on a mission to test out yesterday's malfeasant gas gun. Would it work today after yesterday's failure and remedial gas block surgery?

Good question. You'll recall, far-sighted readers, that the gun wouldn't cycle because of an incorrectly aligned gas block and wrong length gas tube, which I corrected. Or had I? First shot. Bang, right in the center of the green terrorist's head, nice, the weapon was on. But no cycle. Dam.

Out came the screw driver, off went the hand guard, and whaddya know, the gas block still wasn't right. Attention to detail, LSP, get it right the first time, enough of your shoddy, useless gunsmithery. That in mind, I nudged the block back over the handy indent in the barrel, tightened it up, fired a test shot, the rifle cycled, phew, and replaced the hand guard.

A few shots later on the head of the green terr proved the rifle was in working order. Mission accomplished. Result. The rest of the morning went on remedial .45 practice, I'm rusty, and plinking about with a .22. Great enjoyment and what a lot of fun to meet with with church friends for a shoot in the clean country air.

We must build on this worthy endeavor.

Just Get Out And Shoot

Just a typical Texan range scene at a pal's ranch.  30 meters and have at it with assorted weaponry, .45s in this case. And what big fun, just you, the guns and the country under the big sky of the Lone Star State. Freedom.

Accuracy? Center mass on. Enjoyment? X Ring. Which means, as I survey this photo and others like it, shoot more, more often. Kudos btw to TC, who shot well on the day, a few years ago, and later moved to Ireland. He shoots well there too, favoring, I think, a German SxS. Nice.

Message to market, get out there in the country and shoot. Good for mind, body and soul.

Timing is Key

There you are, all hot and ready with a new custom heater in your hands and you look at the thing on the end of the barrel, a Sure Fire SOCOM muzzle brake, and it doesn't look right, the indexing indent thing isn't at the correct 6 'O Clock, the timing is all wrong. Dam, so whaddya do?

DIY? or drive to Fun Guns in Waco to get their armourer to sort the thing out. I chose the latter option, not least because I wanted to revisit Fun Guns, and what a fun gun shop it is! You walk in and there's some kind of low key Death Metal playing, rock on, and guess what.

The staff are friendly and not condescending. What?!? you ask, "Inna gun shop?!?" Yes, in this gun shop. So I looked the counter fella in the eye, all Spetznaz, and asked, "I say, old chap, the timing on this wretched SOCOM muzzle brake seems off, what? Can you fix it?"

Sure enough they did. On. The. Spot. For free. Wow, just exemplary service. Totally impressed and I tell you, go to FUN GUNS if you're in the vicinity. Caveat, I asked the helpful counter fella about ammo, what you charging, sort of thing. $14 for a pack of 20 5.56, more for green tip, apparently.

"Are you shooting indoor range," asked the amiable ammo vendor, "if not you may be able to get away with these (green tip etc @ 14 bucks). I looked at the stupidly overpriced bullets and resisted the impulse to say dam your impudence, "Hey man, I just shoot up the countryside and I'm gonna hold fire, 'preciate ya."

But the bullet thing's a small cavil, FUN GUNS is alright. Check 'em out if you're in the wasteland that is Waco. Obvs need some glass, Vortex? Can't or won't afford Night Force/Schmidt Bender :)

Serfs Can't Have This

What can we say? The beauty of modern engineering.

What a charger!

RAP Adjustable, too.

Too bad it all sunk beneath the waves of Lake Whitney in a tragic kayak trip. Oh well, win some lose some. Maybe powerful magnets on the end of ropes will bring this custom bad boy up from the depths. In the meanwhile, the Ukraine's recovering from an onslaught of Bono/Edge, Justine Trudeau, Doc Jill, Pelosi and the hideous BoJo clown.

Yes, they're shell shocked. Let's see how this beast shoots.

Guns

"So why do you support the 2nd Amendment?" asked a betasoy reporter from the laughable Dallas Morning Morning News. I replied, quick as a flash, mind like a veritable steel trap, "Because freedom," and off he wandered into the untamed jungle of a gun show.

Truck Gun

Seriously, isn't the ability to defend yourself one of the hallmarks of a free society? Sure, we pass that on to the State and the police, but what happens when they turn against you, which of course has never happened ever in the history of ever.

Just Some Guns

More than that, why should some kind of nanny state be precisely that, a nanny treating its citizens as toddlers in a transsexual kindergarten. No guns for you, infants, you might hurt zhirself! So put on three masks and get vaxxed so you'll be all safe, until you die of a heart attack or worse from an experimental gene serum foisted on you by Big Pharma and agitprop MSM.

Typical Pistols

Likewise, why should we hand over, as though it was a good thing, our existence and well-being to a secular state run by an ultra rich transnational elite which regards us as so many pawns/dirtpeople/untermensch to be sacrificed on the altar of their power. Why indeed.

What's with the fancy coat, so-called "LSP"?

In this country we're blessed by the Founding Fathers who put the right to bear arms into the DNA of America, a very difficult stone to dislodge. And for those attempting to do so, a rifleman behind every blade of grass.

Just Out in The Field

Yes, this is Texas under a glowering sky. Note Cow Barn.

And tractor. I don't know why but Kubotas rule here.

A Shop.

I call this installation "Fence."

We recouped after a hard morning's work, "Wish you'd buy this place, brother, make for a heckuvva range. Put up a big berm by the tanks and off we go." My friend thought about this for perhaps a second as we took it easy on the side of his rig, "Dam! That's what I've been thinking about, berm and boom, shoot out to 450 yards." I agreed, "Right, put up a shooting tower back in the deal and have at it."

A moment of reflective silence and ES went ballistic, "Get going with a .50. But what if the round skips the berm and hits an 18 wheeler on I35?" I thought about it, a .50 BMG lofting out of the target area to power through an engine block on a highway a mile off.

Look, The Climate Changed!

"Utter disaster, my friend," and he agreed, "My wife told me I couldn't buy it, dammit. Dude, stop talking in case I do." And that was that, "Drive safe." I file this exciting story under guns and country life in Texas.

Masked Fool

Behold the face of brave, fearless, visionary, speaking truth to power Anglicanism today. There it is, mask up, serfs, from Archbishop on down, otherwise you too might live free from fear of a deadly virus which kills maybe 0.27% of the people it infects.

"Man," I told C the HVAC guy this morning, "It's like we've been driven collectively insane. By Satan." He pondered this as we looked out at the Compound's perimeter (Abbott St.).

"You know, I was at a funeral a few months back, at the Methodist church, 1st Methodist, and the pastor wouldn't even shake my sister's hand, even give her a hug. 'I'm sorry, CDC guidelines, I cannot come any closer to you.' I told that worthless POS if he even spoke to her again there'd be hell to pay."

I thought about this, "You mean the skinny little Methodee? I know him."

"Yeah, that's him. Red haired streak of..."

"He's lib, they believe this garbage. They really do. The Church should provide leadership, fearless leadership."

"Right on, brother. Shot some black powder yesterday, felt good."

C fixed me with camo-rimmed glasses and Realtree shirt, that much of him was invisible, and we grinned. "Black powder, stick it to the Man. And while we're at it, come on in and help out at the Missions, we don't wear masks."

Unlike Welby, whose pathetic ASA (average Sunday Attendance) is plummeting. Is this Providence in action?

Kenosha Kid

You can read about the show trial goonshow here, on Zero, but what did the kid do? He shot a couple of serial bolshevik criminals in self-defense. He killed several and blew the bicep off another.

The prosecution, which weirdly withheld evidence, says that bringing a gun to a threatening situation is, effectively, an incitement to violence. Uh Huh.

What? Having the means to defend yourself illegitimizes your self-defense? That doesn't make any sense, but none of this does. We've got a show trial running, and I hope the young man who put himself in the way of far greater forces than himself doesn't get crushed by them.

If he doesn't? Sue these race baiting profiteers for every inch of their not insubstantial, millionaire socialist bank accounts. And on. Remember Commies, and your corporate pol sponsors, there's a lotta Kyles. A lot.

Peace and Love,

Morning

Behold early morning Texas. Maybe you think the Lone Star State will roll over and become some kind of Swedish Leftist paradise. What a great idea, and lookout Beto, and think again.

What's a "Beto" you ask? Something between a Killery and a Kasich. Yum, what a delicious sandwich. Or perhaps you say "how revolting." That aside...

Behold Genius

Speaking of which, Belle Star's Bosque County hideout, aka "farm," is just a few miles from Mission #2. A church friend tells me there's not much there, just shards of brick and debris from the bandit homestead. So the message is clear, get out there and scope it out.

By the same token, sometime's it's best to go armed. We still have that right and I don't see it going away any time soon.

Cheers,

Texas is Golden

The Mass was offered, ite missa est, go it is sent, and I drove back to the Compound in a golden haze of sunset. It reminded me of the final hour of a dove hunt and I asked myself, "Why is Texas so awesome?" wondering at the providence of it all.

But why. Frontier spirit, big skies, the world's tenth or eleventh highest GDP, putting the Lone Star State above lesser countries such as Canada, Australia and Mexico? Well yes, opportunity, energy and growth, there is that, to say nothing of relative sanity compared to prison gulags like Australia and New York.

Maybe that's part of it. Unlike Alberta, no one here's about to tell you to get a serf vaxxport before you can enter a store. You can even clean the shotguns and pistols you don't have, put 'em in your rig and go out and shoot in a friend's field, we have that freedom. Texas and liberty, two very large things to conjure with.

Let's pray they continue to walk hand in hand. In the meanwhile, it's time to fry up some absurdly cheap, pre-Bidenflation steak. What?!?

Yes, we can eat steak here in Texas, if you know where to look. It's hard to find but you can still get it, as opposed to the soylent cubes and insect hash doled out by our transnational elite, private jet, island owning Millionaire Socialist rulers.

All Souls - New Gun

A friend gave me his old, rusting, neglected barn gun today, a Remington 870. It was a mess but the bore was clean enough, so I took the beast home and applied Hoppe's and a bore brush.

Filthy Gopping Mess

You should've seen the rust liquefy off, what a nasty, minging, filthy mess. But what a good result in the end, a clean gun, ready to shoot and do battle against the avian adversary and their clay simulacra.

A Clean Gun Is A Happy Gun

That in mind, say a prayer for the repose of the soul of Ronnie Storrs, it was his gun and he wasn't above using it on people who made the foolish mistake of messing about on his land unannounced.  Well, may he rest in peace and may his 870 find a place in the Compound's armory.

Midweek Roundup

Typical Texas Street Scene

It's a hard life. When not watching inspirational videos of Eva Peron who could, per LL, launch several B 52s, it's all about Vespers or Evening Prayer.

Speaking of which, do you remember our bizarrely incompetent retreat from Afghanistan? How much money, we have to ask, was paid to the "big guy," and why aren't the people he paid in full control of the Panjshir Valley? Apparently they're not. "Ban, ban, Taliban," as the song goes.

Let's see how the resistance plays out. In other news, more and more people are getting sick from the vax, China's facing a Lehman moment and Biden's popularity is tanking, which is weird, coz he's the most popular president ever in the history of popularity.

And lest we forget, the millionaire celebrities at the Emmys were exempt from masking because they're "performers." Quite unlike you, the serf. Maybe we need some frontier justice?

Clean It Up

Some shooters have White Lightnings, others have Silver Pigeons and more besides, and I won't say they aren't awesome, because they are. But here at the Compound it's pretty much basic budget guns, and they're alright too, provided they work. Which they do, thank God, but here's the thing.

Unless you clean the gun, no matter how pricey it is, even if it's made by the finest gunsmiths by appointment to the Crowned Heads of Europe or Saudi Arabia or the Bush/Clinton crime family or the Great Xi himself, well they're not gonna work if they're not cared for.

So clean those guns even if they're "workhorses" and hardly about to grace a Beretta Gallery. Admonition in mind, I went to work, all the while checking the news to see what was up in the world.

Disaster! Lo and behold, since the team went fishing and shooting, South Africa collapsed, Cuba took to the streets, the French rioted along with the Greeks and we have to ask, is the disorder spreading? Maybe we should shoot and fish less?

Smart people are cleaning guns.

Cheers,

LSP

Shoot The Guns

A new day, a new opportunity to shoot, so off we went to the range with a few guns, a 20 SxS, a 12 OU and a Marlin .22 WMR. Idea being to get some remedial shotgunnery in, and then a little plinking with the Marlin.

The range was overgrown and semi-flooded but we made it through, get a 4x4, LSP, and set up on dry ground next to a field, baking under a big Texan sky. The erstwhile Cadet went first, on the 12, and started smoking clays like a good 'un.

I followed up on the 20 and was more or less on, unlike the Specialist who specially smoked the clays with the same gun. Hmmm, improve your game, so-called "LSP." I did, and got in the zone, shooting far better to the right than left, curiously. Perhaps there's a moral in that.

A box of  orange "White Flyer" over, we moved on to the little magnum, shooting off the bed of the truck. Take that, fifty yard adversary, and the kid's offhand was impressive, right in the zone. Nice work. Then it was time to head back to the Compound, a good morning well spent.

I love shooting and file this tale under guns and country life in Texas.

Shoot straight,

LSP
