Girls Love Glocks

I took the Glock out for a quick spin at the range today, along with a Beretta PX4 Storm. Which gun shot better?

Pistols

Good question. My best shots were with the Beretta, but the best groups were with the Glock, and it seemed to me that the workmanlike Austrian performed better when firing multiple shots at speed. Less recoil means more control and greater accuracy? Maybe, and on balance, I'd say the Glock 21 does shoot more easily than the PX4. It also has 13 rounds in its magazine, as opposed to 9 or 10, so perhaps it's a good thing that the pistol appears to lend itself to shooting fast.

So what's the verdict?

It's early days yet and I'm getting used to the Glock, but right away I can tell it's a superior gun. It's simple, fast shooting and all business.

Girls Love, Love Glocks

Is it tactical? Yes. Do women like them? Of course, they love, love them. Are they accurate? Don't be ridiculous, of course they are, X Ring accurate and then some. How much do they cost? Not too much, about the price of a a couple of weekends in Dallas, or a Saturday in London.

All Business

So, go out and get a Glock 21. It's a great gun at a good price. You can read the specs online, somewhere.

Shoot straight,

Some women have smaller hands and can't shoot a large frame Glock (such as the Mod 21) comfortably. Much of what you shoot well comes with the comfort of holding and operating the firearm. I'm thinking about BW here. It might be too much handgun for her.

That's a good point. What would you recommend?

I don't expect my employer will choose either, when we can carry on with our ancient 9mms for another few decades. Not that anyone to my knowledge has used one in combat, especially on a windy day.

Many gun stores in your region have ranges where people can shoot before they buy. Allow her to shoot different handguns to see what appeals. Clearly, giving BW a 460 S&W magnum would appeal to her, but it's too much handgun... Maybe a Walther PPK? Not only it is the James Bond handgun of preference but it's a sweet shooter and the .380 has reasonable recoil.

SIG SAUER P238

The adjustable backstraps with the new Gen4 Glocks make shooting them a lot easy for those with small hands

I like the sound of the Walther, LL. Good call.

I remember training on an "ancient 9", Padre. I don't remember hitting much with it!

I'd lie a Sig, Brighid.

Good backstrap point, Avtomat.

Brighid's choice of firearms is sound as one would expect, but she is a world class berserker and also carries a cattle prod and who knows what else?

LL: Whoa thanks, that is quite a compliment coming from you! I am humbled greatly.

I picked up a Glock G42 in 380 for carry that's really nice. shoots easy and accurately. It's like a little brother (or sister) to my fullsize Glock 17.
