Is the Church of England about to get even gayer? A new proposal, asking the church's General Synod to create a special ceremony to celebrate a person's sex-change, says that it might.
The new transsexual naming ritual was given a trial run, when Rev. Chris Newlands, Vicar of Lancaster Priory, was asked by a transsexual if he could be re-baptized. According to the Guardian, Newlands told the person, “I said: ‘Let me have a think about it’. So we did and then we created a service, which was an affirmation of baptismal vows where we could introduce him to God with his new name and his new identity."
Hybrids |
New identity as what? A woman/man hybrid, created by chemicals and surgery? This state of being, we're told by Joe Biden and others, is the "greatest civil rights issue of our time." Obviously the world and the dwindling Church of England can't wait to address it soon enough.
Where's the Transsexual? |
In the meanwhile, Christians believe that God created us male and female. Go right ahead and believe something else, but don't call it Christian and don't expect that very many people will be fooled if you do.

Just when you thought that the embrace of homosexuality was complete...a new abomination and abdominal practice is instituted.
This just in: Scientists state that "peak gayness" may be achieved sometime in 2017!
Trans is the new thing, LL. Go ask Joe Biden.
I think that's "settled science" Infidel. By then everyone will be trans and there will be no more children. This will lead to a "die off". And guess what? No more CARBON FOOTPRINT.
"introduce him to God with his new name and his new identity????"
Arrogant much?
The whole thing is so terribly sick/sad, that so much noise is made about this. What happened to really doing good works?
Those Anglicans can really gay things up on the religious front. Is it even possible to be TOO gay in the Church of England?
Would a gay orgy there on the altar be considered too gay? What if you included "fisting"?
Would setting up a "transformational surgery center" as an annex to a Westminster Cathedral be considered extreme? I seriously doubt it. I'm sure that they'd fund it. If you are going to ask about that, also ask for funding for the Jackalope rescue center in TX.
Would a Muslim beheading as part of the Sunday worship service be over-the-top? Or is it Islamophobic to even suggest that it would be over-the-top?
I think that we're still trying to plumb the depths of what "going too far" really means in the C of E. The matter is far from settled.
Wait, I thought the whole point to transgender surgery was that an individual felt that God knitted them wrongly in the womb, and they needed to express outwardly what they feel their true gender has been all along. Sort of like being born with a heart defect that requires corrective surgery (um...only their bodies were perfectly healthy).
If that is the case, then why the need to be "reintroduced" to God, who doesn't look at outward appearances anyway, but rather at a person's heart and soul and mind? Wouldn't God already know the individual, their truest self? Isn't that who would have been baptized, who would have been in communion with God all along? Their logic doesn't hold, not even in a church that supports transgender surgery. It's just sheer flamboyancy, frankly.
Jenny, I think that it's a fad -- the "new normal", and C of E wants to be at the cutting edge.
I see it as mawkishness mixed with satanic pride, Adrienne.
Very good point, Brighid.
Maybe not, Fredd...
I think there's still a way to go, LL.
Flamboyant? I think you're being kind, Jenny.
