Sources on the ground in Aberystwyth, a thriving fishing community on the far west coast of Wales, have reported runs on local supermarkets as panic-stricken Welshpersons buy up rice, loo roll and pasta.
"It's weird," stated a local resident on conditions of anonymity, "It's like they think all this Andrex and Vermicelli is going to save them from an escaped ChiCom bioweapon. Hope they boil the rice before they eat it."
So far, Aberytwyth hasn't been quarantined, unlike Milan, which is a different city entirely. Here's a rate of infection graph from Northern Italy. Nothing to worry about, obviously.
Added new data point on the exponential italian ICU trend (doubling every 2.6 days)— epsilon (@epsilon3141) March 6, 2020
It's one of the most alarming charts I've ever seen because
1. Trend has been very stable for weeks even with Italy mitigation measures
2. If it continues health sys. collapses within 2 weeks pic.twitter.com/rohZouVzrC
Over 1000 people in the Milan area were reported infected by Covid-19 overnight bringing the total to 5,883 as of this morning. Over 230 people have died, do the math.
Good thing China gave us accurate figures, right?
Cheers,
LSP

I say go to Pier Pressure!
Don't fear the reaper.
Hear in O Hi O, the supermarkets remain stocked. Course, we have to my knowledge 3 unconfirmed cases here. 2 in Miami University (Oxford) and 1 in Marion country.
The 2 are Chinese who "recently' traveled to and back from China. I thought there was a travel ban......
Bottom line is we need to do what China was forced to do which is forced isolation for 14 or more days for every person and no travel into America from Anyfreakinwhere, but alas the dollar is mightier than the welfare of Americans.
LL, an asteroid reaper attack doesn't bother me, but suffering for a week and change then dying is not my preferred method of travel to the afterlife. A shark attack would even be better.
Best all of you folks.
Juliette, part of the awesomness of PIER PRESSURE is that it's like a ship.
Don't store your guns there!
Never, LL, we stand firm, resolute.
Speaking of which, how's the defense of the Greek Border going?
Well, under your aegis, I'm sure.
Good luck with that, Kid. I'd argue we look to N Italy to see the potential threat of the thing. Numbers out of China clearly mean little.
Italy = 5%+++ kill rate.
I noticed Italy has now surpassed Iran and S. Korea for total cases reported. That's a bit of an eye opener.
And fwiw, the local supermarkets here in the Cincy area are well stocked with paper products. Course, there are only 3 unconfirmed cases in Ohio so all bets are off if that changes. We're good in any situation here. Other than we contracting the darn thing.
PS - Agree that China has been burning bodies like making popcorn and giving out totally false stats.
Kid, I'd suggest we take Italy as a litmus test. That canary in the coal mine suggests a lot of people dead. Rumors of mobile incinerators in China were and are entirely that, rumors.
Still, it doesn't seem an EOTW (end of the world) scenario, thank God.
Sorry Kid, my comment's now redundant!
