Earth Day, London Goes Baal

It's earth day today, and what better way to celebrate that than by setting up a life size replica of an arch, from the Temple of Baal in Palmyra, in Trafalgar Square.

Baal, meaning "Lord", was the fertility deity of the Canaanites and ranks first in the Goetic 72 spirits, or demons, of Solomon; he's said to satisfy sensual craving, confer knowledge and, curiously, impart invisibility. According to the Zohar, Baal is the demonic equal of Raphael in rank.

Baal's wife is the demon Astoreth, the infernal anti-type of the Virgin Mary. And before you breathe a collective sigh of so what, consider this. Baal was worshiped by sacrificing infants, with fire.

Odd, isn't it, how earth worship or our presently non-cultic modern equivalent, materialism, seems to demand that.

Will the arch in Trafalgar Square open up a portal to hell? Some argue that it's already there.

Mind how you go,

LSP

I afraid it is just more first world bollocks. We wouldn't fight ISIS. We didn't protect the Palmyra World Heritage site. We failed to save its most famous archaeologist. This is all bad, so here is a cardboard cut-out to make us feel better.

Think of it as a votive offering by a primitive people to the great god Rainbow Unicorn.

Cecile must be Astoreth reborn? Throw her through the portal and see what happens...I'm guessing that a star gate will transport her back home to the infernal region.

I will celebrate earth day by mowing my approx. 1 acre of lawn with my 2 cylinder Cub Cadet lawn tractor (which gets maybe 3 mpg). And I had thought that most Earth Day celebrants looked towards Gaia for their spiritual guidance, rather than grumpy ol' Baal.

It's a fearful thing to fall into the hooves of Rainbow Unicorn, Anonymous. And then there's its horn; vicious beasts, unicorns.

She might well be possessed by the demon, LL, and one day hell will reclaim its own, whether through the arch or some other portal. Big six fig salaries off the proceeds of killing babies won't count for much at that point.

Don't forget that Baal was also a fertility god, Fredd, and of course his wife = Gaia, so there's a logic in their choice of deity demon.

And good luck with the acre and the Cub. My truck just developed a radiator leak on the way to the lake and I had to turn'round. There goes that Earth Day celebration.

Sorry about your truck and the leak.

Likely Baal wanted to destroy your Earth Day celebration wherein you were slated to catch a 200 lbs Channel Catfish.

But look on the bright side of things, the fish is still there and the Earth is patient.

I'm not too happy about having to spend money on the rig but it's been pretty hassle free over the years, so I shouldn't grumble.

Stay tuned, fish, this isn't over yet, not by a long way.
