Idea Energy Power

Dorothy Sayers was known for her crime novels, she was also a mystical theologian in the Anglican tradition of the Western Church, think, perhaps, Charles Williams. Here she is on Idea, Energy and Power:

WHEN THE writer’s Idea is revealed or incarnate by his Energy, then, and only then, can his Power work on the world.  More briefly and obviously, a book has no influence till somebody can read it.

Before the Energy was revealed or incarnate it was, as we have seen, already present in Power within the creator’s mind, but now that Power is released for communication to other men, and returns from their minds to his with a new response.  It dwells in them and works upon them with creative energy, producing in them fresh manifestations of Power.

This is the Power of the Word, and it is dangerous.  Every word—even every idle word—will be accounted for at the day of judgment, because the word itself has power to bring to judgment.  It is of the nature of the word to reveal itself and to incarnate itself—to assume material form.  Its judgment is therefore an intellectual, but also a material judgment.  The habit, very prevalent to-day, of dismissing words as “just words” takes no account of their power.  But once the Idea has entered into other minds, it will tend to reincarnate itself there with ever-increasing Energy and ever-increasing Power.  It may for some time only incarnate itself in more words, more books, more speeches; but the day comes when it incarnates itself in actions, and this is its day of judgment.

At the time when these words are being written, we are witnessing a fearful judgment of blood, resulting from the incarnation in deeds of an Idea to which, when it was content with a verbal revelation, we paid singularly little heed.  Which Ideas are (morally) Good and which are anti-Good it is not the purpose of this book to discuss; what is now abundantly manifest is the Power.  Any Idea whose Energy manifests itself in a Pentecost of Power is good from its own point of view.  It shows itself to be a true act of creation, although, if it is an evil Idea, it will create to a large extent by active negation—that is to say, by destruction.  The fact, however, that “all activity is of God” means that no creative Idea can be wholly destructive: some creation will be produced together with the destruction; and it is the work of the creative mind to see that the destruction is redeemed by its creative elements.

Draw the moral as you will and choose wisely, my dear friends.

Are These People Mentally Ill?

Are these people mentally ill, driven insane by Satan?

Just asking,

Interesting

Now that you've recovered from the Dead's remarkable Morning Dew, here's this, from Russia's new Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, via RWA:

By preserving the traditional values of the West, which are originally the values of Western Christian European civilization, Russia can become a guardian of these values. This may seem like a paradoxical idea, but it is nonetheless true. Therefore, it is incorrect to say that the West is our enemy.

Interesting, and I'm sympathetic. Here he is again:

The ideology of a multipolar world is that a self, something independent, must be developed. This self is not the persona, or the mask that we wear. It is the self that should be manifested in all countries with confidence. For countries that do not have sovereignty, it cannot be manifested by definition.

We have no other choice for our country than to acquire or recreate this self. We have huge resources and a talented population, but the most important prerequisite is a strong culture. We have our own cultural code, which most countries and peoples lack. Dostoevsky, in his works such as The Writer's Diary, expressed this idea very well.

You may or may not agree with Andrey but can you imagine, say, Lloyd Austin or any one of our high ranking pols even mentioning Dostoevsky in a public statement, to say nothing of succinctly boosting Western Christian European civ? As you ponder this, reflect on our current Secretary of State rocking out in Kiev as Kharkov burns.

I rest my case,

Morning Dew

I steal your face, no small thing, eh? So I asked a nun, once, "Weren't you at the Fillmore? You told me you were." She looked at me, all Habit and steely eyed aged, and said, "No, I was not." Wow, why did you just lie to me, old woman? Perhaps she thought she'd look in-a-gadda-da-vida bad.  On the contrary, sister.

Oh well, I file this intriguing story under "anything else I care to think of." More guns, fishing, country life to follow. God's a given.

Morning Dew,

Buffoonery Incompetence And Lies

Buffoonery, incompetence and lies. Welcome, dear readers, all three of you, to the State of the Union. Where will we go from here?

Perhaps we can vote our way out of it.

And maybe you'll buy a bridge to Alaska.

Or anywhere else on CONUS.

In the meanwhile, you may have noticed the West isn't reproducing, demographics are drastically down. Solution? Import millions of third worlders who'll vote, as if by LGBTQ+2 magicke for you. Or will they? Good question.

Last I heard, Moslems weren't too keen on gayistry, and South Americans? What can we say, Pinochet was notoriously left tolerant.

A Short Sunday Homily

A Yellow Rose In Texas

And there you have it.

Rain - A Sunday Sermon

How it Started - Simple Demonic Narcissist

It's raining here in Central Texas, which I find tremendously exciting, unlike Madonna. Speaking of which, a pal once told me, "I was at this party in New York and there was Madonna, so I went up to her and said, 'Hi, I'm Alison, what's your name?'" Whereupon the super genius, multimillionaire limo lib turned 'round and hissed, like a rich snake demon, "I'm Madonna, MADONNA!" Make of that what you will.

How it's Going

In other news, it continues to rain and smart Texans are going long boats, understanding that our part of this great once constitutional republic will soon become a vast inland sea. River taxis, anyone? Riverine aside, you may have noticed someone called Bambie Thug, from London/Ireland, won a non-binary award at Eurovision.

I know, we think Eurovision and think Abba or something equally Euro, but the thing's moved on and's now inhabited by demonic satanists, like Bambie Thug. Here she is:

Well look at this, Bambie Thug Demon Witch

Switzerland's entry also featured a demoniac. Have a look at They/Them:

What a Pretty Frock. Keen-Eyed Readers Will Remember "For We Are Legion"

Smart people are asking the exorcist community to have at it and we agree, but word to the wise, use Latin. The devil hates and fears that, not unlike an English schoolboy, and exorcists tell me it works, quite unlike the Vat II vernacular rubbish pablum.

That in mind, do we need a cultural exorcism, on a big scale? I'd argue yes, because we're clearly afflicted, at the macro level, by demons. You'll remember Legion's pronouns were *they/them and that Baphomet's famously trans.

Hope you enjoyed this short homily and here's the application:

It's all a larf 'til you wake up and a demon's gnawing on your buddy's inner thigh.

Out & About

Went over to the lake after church to see what was up. The water was certainly up because all it does in Texas is rain, every day, and this fills the lake which was once a river and before that, a vast prehistoric inland sea. But were there any fish?

I saw a couple of predators break water around noon, not untypical at Soldiers Bluff, but the couple of stalwarts manning the banks weren't getting any business, oh well. That'll surely change as the season moves on, but for now?

Don't waste time, instead head home and marvel at the fact of a small fayre concert on the Square, what's that about? Who knows, but I checked it out later in the day and the thing seemed like fun, all kinds of food trucks, kids and some sort of pop band.

Nice. That in mind, it seemed right to take refuge in this town's improbable cigar bar, yes there is one, and smoke a cigar, which is something I hardly ever do. It was fun, in its way, under tumultuous Texan clouds. And what will tomorrow bring?

Asset Traitor

Could it be that the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox Church is some kind of CIA asset? What a ridiculous conspiracy theory. Here's the American Conservative:

Everyone knows that the Moscow Patriarchate is in bed with the Kremlin. Few realize that the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople is deeply beholden to the United States government.

This ignorance is surprising, given that many Greek Orthodox leaders are quite proud of the fact. In 1942, Athenagoras Spyrou—the Archbishop of America for the Greek Orthodox Church—wrote to an agent of the Office of Strategic Services. “I have three Bishops, three hundred priests, and a large and far-flung organization,” Athenagoras wrote. “Every one under my order is under yours. You may command them for any service you require. There will be no questions asked and your directions will be executed faithfully.”

In 1947, the OSS was rechristened as the Central Intelligence Agency, or CIA. One year later, Athenagoras was elected Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, the spiritual leader of Eastern Orthodoxy.

One might point out that, when Athenagoras reached out to the OSS, his native Greece was under Nazi occupation. It is understandable that a Greek bishop in America would support the American war effort. But it was more than that. Athenagoras was a strong supporter of American exceptionalism and encouraged Washington’s militarist foreign policy. The U.S. Consul in Istanbul recounted a conversation with Athenagoras in 1951: “As usual, he talked at some length of his belief that the United States must remain in the Near East for several centuries to fulfill the mission which had been given it by God to give freedom, prosperity and happiness to all people.”

(These quotes, by the way, are pulled from a talk given by an Orthodox historian called Matthew Namee at Holy Cross Hellenic College, the Greek seminary in Boston. These are not malicious forgeries peddled by Russian propagandists—the Greek Orthodox are quite proud of their association with the American deep state.)

Athenagoras was not merely an Americanist. He was also known as a renovationist, as liberal Orthodox are known. In 1964, he met with Pope Paul VI in Jerusalem; together, they officially lift the mutual excommunications placed by their predecessors in 1054. This gesture sparked outrage across Orthodox world. Athenagoras was accused of compromising the Orthodox Faith for the sake of a paper union with Rome.

The current Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew, is cut from the same cloth as Athenagoras. He is very close to Pope Francis; the two share a passion for mass immigration and environmental activism. Also like Athenagoras, Bartholomew shares a close relationship with the U.S. government—a partnership that has proven mutually beneficial.

You can read all about it here.
