Happy Independence Day, LSP

I had hoped for an up-beat happy birthday tune. Not so much.

I first heard Hubbard back in '76 when he opened for Willie Nelson at a concert I attend in Ft. Worth. I was impressed with his performance. His first album was released shortly afterward and was promptly disowned by Hubbard. It seems the powers that be decided to add tracks without his permission in order to make it more commercially viable. Some of these, such as instrumental tracks by old pros Weldon Myrick and Johnny Gimble, didn't really hurt things much if at all. The background vocal tracks were mostly awful though. Still, Hubbard should have been consulted.

And to you, Adrienne!

It's not the happiest of songs, LL, this is true. I'll try and put something up that's a little more cheerful next time.

I've never seen him live, Jim, and probably won't now, but I like the occasional blast of RWH, even though he's an appalling old hippie.
