Awesome, now the NSA can spy on everyone with gay impunity and our beloved rulers can do whatever they want, do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law, sorta thing.

Teddy Roosevelt had a wonderful way with words didn't he? Was a little too progressive for me but the man could give a speech.
I agree, even though it was kind of cool to "sign in" at Campbell castle in Scotland I have always identified as only an American. No Scottish American for me even though my grandfather emigrated from Scotland when he was about 6 years old. When I fly a flag, which is pretty rare anymore, it is the US flag with the MIA/POW flag only.
Roosevelt was very against hyphenated Americans, and, as a cis-gendered-straight-white-male-German-American I agree.
Generally speaking, America has become soft...physically, mentally, and spiritually. Time For A Reset to God's prescription and values that Our Founders embraced and envisioned with their words and documents, and one we used to hold as foundational (as late as my generation).
We are American's, regardless of ethnicity, heritage, ancestry, or "proclivity"...Roosevelt's statement needs to be read OUT LOUD - publicly - by every member of government who is in a position to make law or influence the rest of us. Then they have 1 minute to let it sink in before being allowed to dismiss the sentiment. Don't like it? There's the door, forcibly if need be. I'll buy the coffee and donuts.
