The Feast of St. Matthew The Apostle

Listen up, Heathen.

It's the Feast of St. Matthew the Apostle, so throw your grimoire in the trash, bin chalice, wand and sword, burn that dog-eared Tarot and say your prayers. Here's one, from the 1928 BCP:

O ALMIGHTY God, who by thy blessed Son didst call Matthew from the recipt of custom to be an Apostle and Evangelist; Grant us grace to forsake all covetous desires, and inordinate love of riches, and to follow the same thy Son Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

Saint Matthew, pray for us.

Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition!

But what to feast on (following prayers)? What can you cook that the Blue Scoundrel won't try to take from your plate. We know that he delights in ribeye steaks and chicken. Don't even dare to tempt him with a cherry pie. He will eat a hamburger if it's offered, but he does prefer steak.

Pray & pass... Going with Mattexian on this one.

Thanks, Adrienne. I think it's a beautiful image. Happy Feats day!

I have a sinking feeling that Oliver Cromwell said that, Mattexian. But still, point well made.

Daily prayers, btw.

LL, you're right. He loves a juicy steak and I know this from all too costly experience! With that in mind, burgers are on the menu.

I must get out and shoot more, Brig...

My favorite gospels are (in order starting with favorite): Luke, John, Matthew and Mark.

I keep thinking of something Fulton J. Sheen once said: "I'd like to thank my writers, Mathew, Mark, Luke and John."

Well at least it's attributed to him if he didn't actually say it.
