Protestant Prelates Wage Peace, ISIS Laughs

Counting down the hours until they too can become Dhimmis, mainline Protestant denominations have stated their opposition to the use of force against ISIS.

In a letter to President Obama, the United Methodists, Prebyterians, United Church of Christ and the Quakers have stated that military action against the savage Muslim terror group "is not necessary."

Instead they recommend, “long-term investments in supporting inclusive governance and diplomacy, nonviolent resistance, sustainable development, and community-level peace and reconciliation processes.”

And that's not all. Not by any means. These soon-to-be Jizyazites want to send out “professionally trained unarmed civilian protection organizations to assist and offer some buffer for displaced persons and refugees.”

In the meanwhile, ISIS is laughing all the way to the nearest woman bishop.

Maybe you think this is some kind of joke, like satire, but no, these clowns are for real and so are the savages.

Good to hear Christians are fighting back.

"Don't go to a gunfight without a gun, and don't go to a holy war without a religion."

We went to a holy war without anything but a set of golf clubs...

Welby should lead the group.

It would be like the First Crusade. Peter the Hermit led a group of '13th Century hippies' to liberate Jerusalem. The men were slaughtered, of course, the women were made sex slaves before they were killed.

After that, all the Crusaders went armed.

If Doby and the lady bishops all perished in Iraq and Syria, that would leave room at the top.... for a new breed of Anglican.... You'd look mighty fine preaching at the Canterbury Cathedral.

Ain't that the truth, Bluesun.

Curious man, Peter the Hermit. As for Dobby and his crew of miscreants... maybe we'll get lucky and they'll head off to Syria.

I have fond memories of the Cathedral.

My first attempt at a comment was a bunch of curse words. I erased it. Counted to ten while breathing deeply, etc.

Trying again: If they think they're claiming some sort of moral high ground, it's a delusion entirely enabled by physical and mental separation from these atrocities. Surely they could not "wage peace" if they stood there and watched the slaughter. If it were their OWN children suffering, they would change their tune real fast.
They should be ashamed.

I'm SICK of people promoting their own utopian ideals at the expense of the lives of those who are helpless.

Well, at least they're consistent. Some of these churches are the same ones, like Quakers, who refused to fight against the Nazis. To be fair, some of them had some 'nads back then, particularly the Quakers who ran a field ambulance during the Chinese-Japanese war. I would admire their convictions more if they were on the ground over there, however.

It makes me angry too, Jenny, but I get the feeling they'd just stand by like victims while their families were killed, and/or become willing Dhimmis.

Useless.

Field Ambulance -- fair enough but as you say, Padre, they don't seem to be "on the ground" with their convictions. Hopefully they're donating to people who are...

Where is Welby's faith if he's not willing to face the knacker's axe? Ask him for me. Or if he shows up, I'll ask him myself. Ghandi clearly had that sort of courage.

(then again Ghandi was dealing with honorable British people - if he'd been up against Chinese or Russians, they'd have dispatched him in a heartbeat)

Welby's martyr wouldn't be noticed by all that many people since the size of his flock has been diminishing under his stewardship. It would make the Sun newspaper above the fold for a day - and would promptly be forgotten. The key to success would be to bring the entire gaggle of misfit clerics with him to get the biggest possible bang for the buck (Front page in the Sun, then page seven the next day).

Homosexuals might take it harder that their leadership was wiped out. Then again, showing up in a Muslim land as a homosexual means that standard jurisprudence calls for your execution.

I think people are asking the wrong question. The question should be; if you are called upon to participate in a frontal assault on a heavily defended enemy position, which prelate a. Current and b. Historical would you want as your opo?

Certainly not the current one...
