Well done, Fathers, you've brought life into the world, keep it coming. And what better prayer could we have for the day than the Pater Noster?
PATER noster, qui es in cœlis; sanctificetur nomen tuum: Adveniat regnum tuum; fiat voluntas tua, sicut in cœlo, et in terra. Panem nostrum cotidianum da nobis hodie: Et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris: et ne nos inducas in tentationem: sed libera nos a malo.
I'll spare you the sermon, but how blessed beyond reckoning we are to be adoptive sons of our heavenly Father in Christ. Elevated, dear readers, into the very life of the Trinity itself.
You will note, in passing, that Satan, much like an English schoolboy or Argentinian bishop, hates Latin.
God bless,
LSP

Thank you, Parson, and Happy Father's Day!
Awesome LSP! Happy Father's Day.
I love the Latin Rite.
Also... some of the most powerful Latin prayers are associated with the medal of St. Benedict (the first letter of each latin word is on the medal):
Vade Retro Satana, Nunquam Suade Mihi Vana — Sunt Mala Quae Libas, Ipse Venena Bibas
(Step back, Satan, do not suggest to me thy vanities — Evil are the things thou profferest, drink thou thy own poison)
That pretty much sums it up - big time!
Crusty Old TV Tech here. Happy Father's Day, and blessed be St. Joseph, the first among earthly fathers, foster father to the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity.
As Airmen Basic loathed good old AFR 35-10 (containing uniform and grooming standards back in the day), so loathes old scratch Latin, as you noted.
All good points Padre. I hope you had a pleasant day with your progeny.
Hates Latin...
Not all the same Hate.
The English schoolboy, (I think we know who you mean), hates Latin class, but learns to love the sacred language.
The Argentinian Bishop, (I think we know who you mean), hates the lovers of the sacred language;
Satan, (make sure you know who he means), exists on hate. Finds hate in all things. Hates it when we pray the sacred language.
And to you, drjim!
I think I might do another post on that, Seamus.
Most definitely, Tech!
I hope you had a good one too, DOS>
Anon, I agree.
