You may not have heard that Prince Rupert of the Rhine's battle dog, Boy, was believed to be a witch's familiar. Boy was shot with a silver bullet by superstitious puritan fanatics at the unfortunate battle of Marston Moor.
My dog, Blue Royalist, isn't a witch's familiar but has run the risk of being shot for stealing fried pies, steak, cheese, butter(!) and the occasional chicken. Not very SKCM but we'll let it pass, for now.
Blue isn't going fishing this afternoon, he is staying at the Compound to guard the position against intruders, malfeasants and the various flotsam and jetsam of post-Obama America.
Tight lines,
LSP

Happy Birthday, LSP!
Thanks, LL. We had a good fishing expedition, John caught a large, no fooling, long nose gar. Good work, kid.
Happy birthday again, Padre!
Watch out for Blue Guardian. Even tho we're in town, there's still enough wildlife to cause problems. This morning, our Pittie girl Delilah charged across the backyard, starting a scrap with a raccoon nearly as big as she is. That coon got in a couple of nips that made Delilah yelp, with me trying to break them up, until it finally escaped over the fence. She's resting, a little sore, and on antibiotics and pain meds, and getting lots of cuddles for her bravery. Ok, not like she doesn't insist on lots of cuddles anyway.
You can call someone a "Roundhead cur(r)" these days, but it just does not sting anymore.
Anyway, happy birthday, what's left of it.
Been wondering how Blue Defender of the Faith was doing, glad to see him still on guard.
I'd never heard the story of Prince Rupert's dog. Or that it was your birthday.
I hope it was a happy one. ;-)
LSP, You were born on the 3rd? How auspicious for being born on my birthday. Tom Cruise also had the luck of the day but has blown it by following that pagan cult he is in.

P.S. -- Ask Vicki how old I am.
Glad there wasn't any serious harm done, Mattexian! Coons can be fierce...
Thanks, Chas. Perhaps it's time to resurrect "cur(r)."
All went well, Borepatch, despite sorrow at the memory of "Boy" and Marston Moor.
Many congrats, Bill! July 3 is a fine day to be born on, I always think. I'll ask Vicky...
