New Year's Day in Inglewood

What will 2015 bring? Will the cold war against Russia get colder and then hotter? Will mainstream Western Anglicanism continue its downward spiral into sexually induced apostasy?

Who knows, and rather than consult an Angelic Alphabet to scry the answers, I stepped out into the pleasant streets of Inglewood.

I like it here and enjoy the Edwardian architecture, which dates from Calgary's days as a Northern outpost of Empire.

Now the shops are mostly the kind of artsy boutiques you find in places like Austin, or San Francisco, and they're not cheap. Still, it's neat to look in the windows and congratulate yourself on having the good sense to be immune from the lure of their pricey wares.

There's restaurants too, and a deli called Spolumbo's. Spolumbo's sells delicious European and English sausage. If you like bangers and mash, Spolumbo's is your shop. You can get beer on tap there and drink it as you congratulate yourself on a fine purchase of excellent sausage.

Then there's the Minh Chau, which pretends to serve Vietnamese food. I'd avoid that, if I were you, and go to the Swan instead. The Swan is a pub, where you can drink beer and eat food.

Typical Canadian House. Note Antler

Maybe that's where I'll go later, to celebrate New Year's day.

Have a great New Year!

If they are doing that, the least that they can do is attract some attractive soiled doves to lure men to their spiritual doom. The cast off lesbians and misfits don't do the Devil justice.

Believe it or not, there is EXCELLENT Vietnamese food in Calgary. There are a lot of mobbed up Viet joints who cater to the gunslingers who transit from BC to Toronto and the food is good.

If you're up for a warm bowl of Pho, try the Bolsa Vietnamese in Acadia. The family of thugs that runs it were run out of Southern California for racketeering. The food is quite good and it's not expensive.

For cheaper Pho, try Pho Huong Viet in Ranchlands, on Ranchlands Blvd. Still good, not as mobbed up.

Of course you can't get proper bangers and mash at either location, nor do they serve bitters. P. S. Bangers without proper English mustard - doesn't really work for me.

If the DLC gathering in Austin/Dallas is to happen you must scout (take a platoon from the DLC and scour the city) for some proper British cuisine as a site for the meeting.

That's a cute house. I especially like the perky red shovel. (Though I would not want to use it.)

I will now go turn up my heater up a little more.

Thanks for the restaurant tips! I'll see if I can get to one.

And good Austin call -- I'll have to deploy scouts as soon the Calgary expedition is over.

As for the CofE's spiritual doom, well, let's see who ends up in the "talent pool"...

Turn up the heater, Jenny!

Asking Pretty Jenny to turn up the heat can be disastrous...she is a berserker.

LSP said...

That's very true. Must. Be. More. Careful.

By "disastrous", I'm sure you mean "admirably effective".

When you wake up one day and find that global warming has turned you into a popsicle, you'll think of me. I'll be doing just fine. Berserker style.

One person's "admirably effective" is another person's demise...

I should be careful, LL...

By "demise" I'm sure you mean "terrific fortune."
Couldn't agree more! :)
