Wash Out!

My youngest son, who's visiting from Canada, wanted to go for a shoot today and who can blame him. It sounded good to me too and the plan was to load up on clays, shotgun ammo, some .45 and head out into the wilderness for fun and adventure. Then it started to rain and didn't stop, it was like Wales, maybe Aberystwyth.

But the living room was dry, fortunately, and we looked out of its windows at the watery apocalypse. "Son, this isn't shooting weather." He agreed and I nodded grimly as the varied detritus of modern life flowed past the Compound, "That's an excellent point. Let's go to Karen's and get some food."

So we hydroplaned to Karen's Authentic Mexican Food in Itasca and bought a bag of bean and brisket burritos. Then we hydroplaned back and ate those bad boys like they were going out of fashion, which they're not because they're so tasty. Good work, Karen, you did it again.

The guns got a look-in too. Sure, maybe you don't want to shoot in the deluge but you can always clean the little blasters, which is what I did. Meanwhile, boy and dog amused themselves while the rain poured down.

They say, interestingly, that enough rain falls in Texas to keep the average house in water for a year. Of course this figure might be skewed by the population boom in the Lone Star Sate as people flee Illinois, California and associated workers' paradises for our sunny southern weather.

New Years Eve Fish

Thanks to our old friend Climate Change, New Years Eve dawned pleasantly balmy and it seemed like a good idea to drive over to the dam and try our luck against the aquatic adversary. To be honest I wasn't expecting much, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. So off we went.

The pier was empty, the water murky and the mighty Brazos flowed east towards Waco. "Let's try the famous Texan worm rig, kid," I told junior LSP. And that's exactly what we did, casting off with small baitholders weighted with split shot.

Lo and behold, we were getting tugs on the line within minutes and before long up  came a Black Drum. Result. The young 'un took a little longer to get started  but soon he was on the drum like a yellow vest storming Bregancon. Well done!

Then the bite switched off as the Drum went downstream; similar, when you think about it, to the FISA drop. You could see the fish jumping just out of reach,  tantalizing as the prospect of Lyin' Comey & Co. in Gitmo.

Undaunted, resolute, we fished on and were rewarded by a couple of catfish. They were small but so what, a fish is a fish. Then it was time to head back to the  Compound.

And I tell you, it was good to get out in the country air and even better to catch something when you weren't expecting to.

Let's hope this augurs well for MAGA 2019.

This is What You Get...

When you're an elite Illuminati protege, like French President Emmanuelle Macron. That's right, h/t LL, a lavish medieval castle overlooking the Med.

But the days of Macron hiding away at Fort Bregancon may be over following a daring raid on the presidential getaway by populist demonstrators.

Intrepid yellow vest protesters attempted to storm Macron's deluxe NWO Riviera hideout last Thursday and promised to return after police repelled them.

The raid was part of larger protests which have convulsed France, as hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets demanding an end to their despised president's over-regulation, crushing tax burden, and out of touch lifestyle.

Macron, net worth $31.5 million, provoked scorn earlier this year by building a $39,000 swimming pool in his castle at taxpayer expense, despite having a private beach at the elite residence. And that's not all.

Following his election win last year, Macron revealed that he spends over $23,000 on makeup a month along with his aging wife, La Trolle Brigitte. The presidential couple also spent $60,000 on new crockery for the Elysee Palace.

How very tres jolie,

Go For A Shoot

It's important to get the young 'uns shooting, so we loaded up the rig with guns and headed for the range. A CZ 20 SxS, an AR15, a Chicom SKS and a Ruger American .22.

First things first, try out the shotgun against the clays. Sling 'em up and shoot 'em, at least that's the theory,  the initial praxis? Pathetic. But we warmed up and got on target well enough and I have to say, I'm a total convert to 20s. Swift, easy on the shoulder and guess what, they work.

Some call them "girl guns" because they don't have the roar and weight of a 12. This misguided opinion is an error.

Next up, the SKS. Big fun to shoot and a proper little blaster; metal plates took a beating from this workmanlike tool of the revolution. Plenty of power behind that stubby little 7.62x39 round, designed in 1943.

But the AR15 seems light and nimble compared. This one made quick work of soda cans and steel plates. Its Primary Arms red dot was on, apparently, nice.

We finished up with some .22 plinking which seemed tame in comparison, but don't scoff. Rounds down range are rounds down range, and these connected against steel with great satisfaction.

Then it was time to head for home in the setting Texan sun, a good job well completed.

Hikers

The best thing about Islam is that it's so liberal and feminist, go ask all the wymmyn it liberates, or kills. And that's what it is with Sharia, empowering. See Linda Sarsour.

Serious question, when will these people wake up? In the meanwhile, don't fear the reaper.

Reverse Santa

Keen-eyed readers of this incisive foreign policy blog will have noticed that empire building's gone out of fashion, unless you're Chinese

Their little method goes like this, we call it Reverse Santa:

Lend Africans vast sums of money, with assets like airports, railways, energy companies and ports as security.
Africans remarkably fail to pay back the loans.
Chinese take all the Africans' stuff.

A Fine Vintage

One of the best things about Christmas is that you get to drink great wine. It's just part of the feast.

Cheers!

Victory!

After visiting the sick I braved the Christmas day death trap that is I35N to Dallas.

Typical

The table was laid, a turkey was resting, champagne was flowing.

Presents

There were presents around the tree.

Gaol

Blue Predator was relegated to the back hall so he couldn't eat the presents.

Rabble Rousers

And everyone feasted.

Merry Christmas!

St. John Chrysostom puts it well:

Come, then, let us observe the Feast. Truly wondrous is the whole chronicle of the Nativity. For this day the ancient slavery is ended, the devil confounded, the demons take to flight, the power of death is broken, paradise is unlocked, the curse is taken away, sin is removed from us, error driven out, truth has been brought back, the speech of kindliness diffused, and spreads on every side, a heavenly way of life has been planted on the earth, angels communicate with men without fear, and men now hold speech with angels.
Why is this? Because God is now on earth, and man in heaven; on every side all things commingle. He became Flesh. He did not become God. He was God. Wherefore He became flesh, so that He Whom heaven did not contain, a manger would this day receive... and the heavens give glory, as the Lord is revealed by a star.

Wishing you all the merriest Christmas,

Magnificat

If you follow the strange new modernistic lectionary you'll have heard the Magnificat this morning at Mass, Mary's exultant hymn of praise to God. My soul doth magnify the Lord, sings the Virgin to Elizabeth.

Consider the depth and power of the canticle and while we're at it, here's an Advent carol from the Cambridge crew.

Some argue that the West won't defeat the twin jihad of Secularism and Mohammedanism until its people recover their faith, which is the ancient, unconquerable Faith of the Church.

It takes Spirit to defeat spirit or to put it another way, Charles Martel didn't forge his hammer in a vacuum.

Magnificat anima mea,
