Sun Rising

The day dawned bright, the sun shone in a clear sky as birds sang, no chemtrails here, life is good. Then, after Morning Prayer and the obligatory stroll to the Pick 'n Steal, I drove to Cleburne, population 30,289, quite the metropolis.

I tell you, it always feels out of place and stranger in a strange land when I leave the protected zone of this bucolic if asset stripped rural haven and venture into the world. There it is, Walmarts with polished concrete floors, strip malls in abundance, CPAs, all this cacophony which has become the way we live now.

Note GOLD ceiling strips. Yes, real gold

Some, who live in real isolation, will feel this more keenly, and there it is. Business taken care of I climbed back in the aging rig and headed for home and Stations of the Cross. Must get an oil change on the old truck, write up a talk on the final two petitions of the Pater Noster, clean some guns and pick up the Specialist from the Metrosprawl airport tomorrow.

While we're at it, could someone, please, bring the Ukraine adventure to a conclusion? Thanks, readers, in advance. Oh, and let's see the rest of Hunter's laptop hit the news too, apparently gigabytes are being uploaded somewhere in Switzerland. Yes, please.

God bless you all,

LSP

Life Is Good

You never quite know what you'll find at the local country Made-in-China-Mart in these uncertain times, apart from everyone having a tattoo regardless of age. It's like some kind of convention of extras from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Buccaneers aside, I checked out the ammo aisle by force of habit. Lo and behold, there were Valu-Paks of .22LR, 20 gauge 8 shot, and a few lonesome boxes of .22 WMR; and all at normal prices. Result. I bought a box of each, per store limit, and drove back to the Compound in high spirits.

Inspired by this not inconsiderable victory, it seemed right to clean some guns, one gun in particular, a Ruger American .17 HMR. Clean that bolt, LSP, lest the dirty little beast seizes up and fails to fire. Which is a bit of an issue with Ruger's American rimfire line because the manufacturer in its wisdom packed the bolts in grease, which solidifies over time and stops the rifle from working as it should. So sort it out; here's a helpful video, if you're interested.

That said, let's see how the little beast performs at JF's range tomorrow. We'll be shooting from the 200 yard line, and there's nothing wrong with that. At all.

In the meanwhile, ribs are on the grill and life is good.

Cooking With LSP, Poppers. Jihad Version

"You can't cook with LSP!" you exclaim indignantly, "That's as dangerous as it is absurd." Not so fast, my friend. You can, and here's how.

Buy some Jalapeno peppers, larger ones work better, and cut them in half. Then scoop out the seeds and fill the pepper shells with cream cheese. You can use a Spyderco Perseverance to cut the peppers, but any knife will do. Just make sure it's sharp!

Next, wrap the cream cheese filled peppers in bacon. Go on, use a slice per pepper, then skewer the bacon-wrapped awesomness with a toothpick. Stand back and admire your handiwork, life is good.

Put the poppers in the oven at 400 and bake, turning half-way through, until the bacon's done, for about 20 minutes or so. then remove those bad boys from the oven and savor the delicious smell of cooking pig that fills your house. Have a beer, maybe a glass of wine, you've earned it.

After you've let the poppers rest a bit, say grace, and eat them, like Charles Martel.

And that's cooking, with...
