Happy Independence Day!

Have a great day with family and friends as we celebrate our freedom from British tyranny. You can imagine what that'd look like now, a Whitehall mandated rainbow flag on every corner and don't you dare disagree, serf, or you'll go to gaol for Hate Thought like the brazen transphobic Nazi you are.

In the meanwhile, London bureaucrats would be sending billions of your tax Dollars Pounds to fund literal Nazis in Eastern Europe. For moneylaundering freedom and the Liberal World Order.

What a terrifying vision! Thank God we fought against such perfidious despotism and won, but you know the saying, "A Republic if you can keep it." That in mind, the flag of Liberty flies high at the Compound and burgers are about to hit the grill.

Cheers,

LSP

A little lengthy, for which I apologize. John Adams writing to wife Abigail on July 2nd, the date the resolution for independence was agreed to, rather than on July 4th, the day the specific wording was approved. Note well the prophesy in the second and third paragraphs:

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am apt to believe it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.

"You will think me transported with enthusiasm, but I am not. I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure that it will cost us to maintain this Declaration and support and defend these states. Yet, through all the gloom, I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is more than worth all the means. And that posterity will triumph in that day’s transaction, even although we should rue it, which I trust in God we shall not…

"It may be the will of Heaven that America will suffer calamities still more wasting, and distress yet more dreadful. If this is to be the case, it will have this good effect at least. It will inspire us with many virtues which we have not, and correct many errors, follies and vices which threaten to disturb, dishonor and destroy us. The furnace of affliction produces refinement, in States as well as individuals...But I must submit all my hopes and fears to an overruling Providence, in which, unfashionable as the faith may be, I firmly believe."

Wow, Wild, "I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory."

I love that.

WWW…exceptional and beautiful. I love Adams’ genius.

Imagine someone today speaking in such profound yet lofty terms about our beloved America. Our modern leadership has been made up of fools bereft of wisdom and character, most have had it too easy. Lacking in toil and understanding makes one soft, thereafter taking for granted all that has been sacrificed before so that we may benefit and advance society. Not anymore.

"He has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their Substance."

Yeah, I'm looking at you EPA, FDA, FBI, ATF.

Besides, alcohol, tobacco and firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

I just reread that, Wild. Remarkable, there were giants in those days.

Paul, part of the problem is that we're as corrupt as the 18th C but without the talent. What a great quote!

Infidel, I nearly choked on m'claret! But yes, shouldn't the ATF be some kind of corner store? I understand there's a bill afoot to stop the IRS buying ammo, with our tax dollars. Good luck with that.
