Henrietta Maria

In stunning contradistinction to today's grifting, huckster, in it for the money mountebanks, we have HRH Henrietta Maria. Of course the puritans hated her catholicism and, I'd argue, everything she stood for, not least the divine right of kings and Christendom itself.

You'll note her pearls. These enraged protestant sensibility, and she fled the Sceptered Isle when the war went wrong to carry on the fight to the enemy using her not inconsiderable fortune. Do you think her Puritan/Protestant fanatics = today's Leftists? I'd argue yes. You may not, your call.

Regardless, we know the result. The regicides were exhumed and dumped in the Thames, fittingly, while Charles II reigned in a kind of late renaissance (are you sure 'renaissance'? Ed.) degenerate glory. Maria, you'll be glad to know, lived in Somerset House on the Strand during that time but later returned to France.

Prince Rupert of the Rhine, all hail the exuberant cavalry commander, was her nephew. I count her a hero, you may not, no "rule."

Guilty

A Mountebank Crook

Maxine Waters, for inciting race hatred, and being a corrupt, hypocritical fraud of a Millionaire Socialist.

A George Floyd Juror

Our legal system, which is clearly broken.

A Martyr Angel Saint God

George Floyd, for breaking into a woman's house and pointing a gun at her stomach while an accomplice searched her home for drugs and money.

A Cop

Speaking of which, I was fishing with a couple of semi-retired LEOs when George Floyd became a beautiful, martyr saint, holy angel. One of them asked the other, "Is that the kind of hold you teach your students?"

A Dindu

Regardless, now that the show trial's over, will Minneapolis burn to the ground? Maybe the MPD should stand down if it does, while the Guard enjoys rainbow diversity training.

Maxine Waters' net worth is a paltry $2 million, low by #MillSoc standards. Don't say race baiting mountebank.

Your Pal,

The Feast of St. Matthias

It's the Feast of St. Mathias the Apostle today. Here's the Collect:

O ALMIGHTY God, who into the place of the traitor Judas didst choose thy faithful servant Matthias to be of the number of the twelve Apostles; Grant that thy Church, being alway preserved from false Apostles, may be ordered and guided by faithful and true pastors; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Clement of Alexandria says this:

Not that they became apostles through being chosen for some distinguished peculiarity of nature, since also Judas was chosen along with them. But they were capable of becoming apostles on being chosen by Him who foresees even ultimate issues. Matthias, accordingly, who was not chosen along with them, on showing himself worthy of becoming an apostle, is substituted for Judas.

Apocryphal tradition tells us that the Apostle preached the Gospel amongst the cannibals of Aethiopia (latter day Georgia) where he was martyred and buried near the Temple of the Sun at Sebastopolis. Other sources tell us he was martyred in Jerusalem.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Enjoy your celebration of this great saint but don't forget his remarkable asceticism, which began while he was a slave in Ireland:

“After I had come to Ireland I daily used to feed cattle, and I prayed frequently during the day; the love of God and the fear of Him increased more and more, and faith became stronger, and the spirit was stirred; so that in one day I said about a hundred prayers, and in the night nearly the same; so that I used even to remain in the woods and in the mountains; before daylight I used to rise to prayer, through snow, through frost, through rain, and I felt no harm; nor was there any slothfulness in me, as I now perceive, because the spirit was then fervent within me.” (Confessions §16)

As well as ridding Ireland of snakes and refuting demonic druids, Patrick abolished the island's slave trade. No mean feat, and I'd say we need his prayers today as much as ever.

God bless,

Dallas Saint

Archbishop Dmitri died in 2011 and was buried, unembalmed. His body was transferred yesterday to St. Saraphim's Cathedral in Dallas. The body was found to be incorrupt.

Rod Dreher comments.

When the cemetery personnel opened his coffin, they found Vladyka Dmitri incorrupt.
That is to say, his body had not decayed. He has been buried for four and a half years under the Texas ground, and his body looks like it did the day he died.
This is a miracle. In Orthodox and Roman Catholic Christianity, it is seen as a sign that the deceased was, and is, a saint.
If you read The Brothers Karamazov, you may remember that whether or not the deceased Elder Zosima was incorruptible was a feature of the narrative.

I believe Dmitri was a genuinely holy man. He had a great love of Fr. Homer Rogers, some will know who I mean, and as I understand it was brought to catholicism (Anglican) by him, and then moved to Orthodoxy. But perhaps I'm wrong, they were certainly friends.

Dmitri shares the same name as the martyred Tsarevitch, who was also found incorrupt. And at the risk of irreverence, in strong contradistinction to our establishment pay-to-play ruling elites.

Let's have more sanctity, please, and less corruption.

You can and should read Dreher's article here.

God bless,
