The Beauty of Feminist Liturgy

What better way to unwind after a hard day's work than to sit back and relax with some feminist liturgy. Like Our Mother Who Is Within Us:

Our Mother who is within us
we celebrate your many names.
Your wisdom come.
Your will be done,
unfolding from the depths within us.
Each day you give us all that we need.
You remind us of our limits
and we let go.
You support us in our power
and we act with courage.
For you are the dwelling place within us
the empowerment around us
and the celebration among us
now and for ever. Amen

Beautiful, isn't it, but don't forget croning. Yes, croning, in which a group of old crones celebrate being just that, crones. One of the better parts of this empowering liturgy features the Presentation of Crone Jewels, which only cost around a buck apiece from a "rock shop." It goes like this:

Presentation of Crone Jewels (These can be purchased at a rock shop for about $1 each)
Leader: “Amethyst has long been credited with special magic, believed to have powers of protection, healing, and enhancement of mental powers and wit, valued as a stone of spirituality and peace. It is associated especially with the Crone. We wish to present each of the honorees with her own Crone jewel as a token of her status as Crone.”
[Stones presented by Leader]
Toast to the New Crones (Have a sparkling drink here)
Leader: “Let us now toast the new Crones.”
Group Chant: “The earth, the air, the fire, the water, return, return, return, return.”

So special, treasure your crone jewels. After a closing benediction invoking the elemental spirits of earth, air, fire and water, the newly minted crones are free to disperse.

You can read the whole thing here or, if you prefer, be inspired by the ACoC (Anglican Church of Canada) clergyperson who's also a wizard figure.

A Helpful Prayer

Here at the Compound we hope you find this version of the Lord's Prayer as helpful as we do:

O, Birther of the Cosmos, focus your light within us -- make it useful
Create your reign of unity now
Your one desire then acts with ours,
As in all light,
So in all forms,

Grant us what we need each day in bread and insight:
Loose the cords of mistakes binding us,
As we release the strands we hold of other's guilt.
Don't let surface things delude us,
But free us from what holds us back.

From you is born all ruling will,
The power and the life to do,
The song that beautifies all,
From age to age it renews.

I affirm this with my whole being.

Beautiful, isn't it.

Happy Earth Day!

Everyone loves Earth Day, and no one more so than us at Team LSP. So here's a little Gaia prayer to help us with that.

Our Mother whose body is the Earth,
Blessed are you,
And blessed are all the fruits of your womb.
You give us this day our daily bread,
And we share it with others.
Our Mother whose body is the Earth,
We love you with all our hearts,
And our neighbors as ourselves.

Beautiful, isn't it.

The Awesome Beauty of Liturgical Dance

One of the things we like, here at the Compound, is Liturgical Dance. And while we're at it, why not accompany the Dance with a patriarchy-busting version of the Lord's Prayer. Like this one:

O Divine Womb,
birthing forth the river of blessing which runs through all,
Soften the ground of our being,
and hallow in us a space for the planting of thy presence.

In our depths,
sow thy seed with its greening-power
that we might be midwives to thy Reign.

Then, let each of our actions
bear fruit in accordance with thy desire.

Impart to us the wisdom to bring forth the gifts of the earth
and share them daily according to the needs of each being,

And restore that which has been usurped
by injustice to its rightful owners,
as we restore to others that which is not our own.

Do not let us be seduced
by that which would divert us from our purpose,
but make us sensitive to the moment at hand.

For from thy fertile soil is born the creativity,
the life-energy, and the dance,
from birthing to birthing. Ameyn.

How very, very beautiful. And awesome.

Ameyn.
