Jukebox Thursday

Yep, it's that time of the week when we head off to the local, sling a few quarters in the juke box and play requests. That's right, Juke Box days are back. First up, an old classic, Free Bird by everyone's favorite Southern Rock trailblazers. Good choice, LL:

Nice, but let's get down to earth with the Confederate Railroad, courtesy of WSF. Quite the toe tapper:

Anon's got the East on his mind, understandably, to say nothing of Miravi's beautiful voice. Check it out:

My turn, Randy Newman's Little Criminals. I've enjoyed that song pretty much from ever since it came out and now more than then. Picture the scene:

Rock on and keep 'em coming.

Your Pal,

LSP

Best band in the world presently, allowing this 73 yr old to play something not from the 60s-80s lol.

This is the greatest thing you will experience today, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird played on an electric violin and bagpipe:

Classic bluegrass tune from Earl Scruggs and friends. Every player in this one was an elite level musician.

You see that LTD bottom left-hand corner of Newman's album? That's my old car! Or one just like it! We had us some times in that car, back in the day.

Meanwhile, Linda and the Feat encourage you to keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you:

I've always wondered about the women and girls that love "Freebird."

Why?

Because it's a song where the male is saying, "Yeah, no, I'm not going to commit, settle down, do what you want. None of it. Bye!!!!"

Yet they swoon over the song.

Bad Boy Syndrome much?

It's Passover today (Saturday) and I don't think that any of that music you posted can be classified as Passover music. Or Palm Sunday tunes for that matter, either.

Ah, Pat, good old Band Maid. On the next list.

Good call, Paul, and I'm adding the Hu to the next playlist.

Nice one, RHT.

Good call, Beans. Me? I overplayed that tune years ago and find it hard to listen to these days. Still, it rocks.

You'll note, RHSM, that this catchy post was published on Thursday, so there is that. But yes, must get in tune for Holy Week.

I love the song. And once I actually looked up the lyrics (I don't hear so well, so I've had some spectacular not-quite-right lyrics moments, like "Wake up and do the Watusi" rather than "Wake up Little Susie." My wife being a lyrics monster still makes fun of me...) I was gobsmacked by how anti-relationship and anti-guuurrl power the song is.

And, well, good tune, music's great, singing's great, harmony, melody, instruments are all great.

Listen to it in a playlist, fine. Over and over like some people at my high school, no, nope.
