D Day And The Fighting Monkey



It's the 72nd anniversary of D Day, when allied forces made their momentous landing on the shores of Nazi occupied France and began the work of rolling back the Hitlerites. Here's an excerpt from President Roosevelt's D Day Prayer:

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.

They did triumph and we should thank God for that. 


A Fighting Monkey

Now, I'm not a betting man, but I'll wager any eight, yes, eight, of your womyn priests against my fighting monkey that  it'd be inconceivable for a US president to make that prayer today.

I think most of those soldiers landing knew they were headed to certain death, but they did it anyway.

Barack only prays in Arabic...

X2 for Adrienne (above). They knew they were going to die and the went for it because it was their duty. None of them sat around in a onesie pajama drinking coco.

You don't hear a lot of D Day stories about the famous pajama onesie coco brigade, LL. Weird, eh?

That was a wonderful prayer, it truly summed up the task at hand. You're correct, our current gang of layabouts couldn't come close, and couldn't muster the same sincerity.

We'd never be able to have a D Day today. All the recruits would be whining about safe spaces and trigger warnings.
