America Doesn't Have a Class System

America overthrew British tyranny back in the 18th century. No taxation without representation and the rights of man, sort of thing.

Because of that we don't have a class system here, unlike England.

Thank God for that then.

Champagne all 'round.

I would guess that the three emblems shown relate to some sort of American Class system, but being a naive Englishman, I haven't a clue ...

You see, Strawbrick, they have all these odd societies here. Confusin'.

Inquiring minds want to know... Why are the "Thetas" portrayed in this blog post. Are they part of the "class system"?

This message was written by a non-theta with a gun to his head!

I think they are, DC, but maybe I'm wrong? Whatever the case, thought I'd better balance out S&B and Wolfshead...

Also a little confused by the way they refer to themselves as a "fraternity" -- shouldn't that read "sorority"?

It's all a great mystery.

Still a gun to my head: "Kappa Alpha Theta was the first Greek letter fraternity known among women."

What is your problem LSP? You're losing converts over here!

Be careful with those firearms!

But don't worry, I like these societies; don't really have them in England, more about clubs. I miss those...

Good answer. All is well. You should post the photo I sent you today! It's pure TX.

I will post it -- have to do a post on Hubbard too. (where I've just become Vicar along with SMH & OLL)

Hope all's well in Baton Rouge.

LURVE the sarcasm!
WOnder id some people won't get it?

Meanwhile, the class system is dead over here - it's just that some idiots try to keep it alive for political purposes.
Consider my self.
Among my ancestors:
Father-&-son who were succesive Lords Chancellor.
A lady whose maiden name was "Paramour".
Huguenot Refugess, entring England in 1685 in the clothes they stood up in.
Soldiers of fortune named: "Gascon/Gascoine".
Saxons named "Pydd"...
What was that about class?

Interesting family tree, Tingey.

Thetas — that was my mom's outfit.

Americans talk about "race" when we really mean to talk about class, which confuses the discourse to not end.

Good call, Chas.

To make things even more confusing, our society, such as it is, seems to be skidding along in a state of flux. Where it'll land is anyone's guess but I'd wager that having land is a pretty safe bet -- same as it ever was, I suppose.
