So What Is The Best Club?

Whoa, tricky question because they're all good in their different ways. For sheer apex predator awesome it has to be White's. If you're a Prime Minister or own half the planet you may be invited to join. I'm not a member, oddly, and that's curious, because I am the Commandant of an irregular troop of light horse, the DLC (Dallas Light Cavalry). Huh.

Boodles

White's being shut to us, we move down St. James by a few hundred yards and land at Boodles. What a beautiful and comfortable Club! Winston Churchill used to sit in its storied bay window and watch passers by. I love that place and used to sit in its famous window, imagining Churchill's shade, but haven't been there in many years; I always think of the smell of coal fires when I remember it. It has, by the way, an amazing 18thC dining room and outstanding wine, obvs.

Carlton

So, walk across the road and what d'ye see? Brooks. I know nothing of Brooks. Keep walking and lo and behold, the Carlton Club. I used to enjoy that place in the '90s, when you could smoke in its Smoking Room and everything was cool and cashless. Just sign a chit, sorta thing. Haven't been there in ages. Still, you know it's good, there was a weighing machine next to the member's dining room. Perhaps there still is.

EIC

Next up. Carlton Club reverie over, stride forth into St. James Square, and what do you find? A veritable cornucopia of Clubs. The East India ain't shabby and offers a great Sunday lunch; order salmon and roast beef from the trolley if you're smart, and you won't be disappointed.

In & Out

Replete, walk across the way to the Naval & Military (In & Out) to enjoy well-priced cocktails before heading over to the Reform Club on Pall Mall (not open on weekends apart from accommodation and an excellent breakfast). Excelsior. Of course there's others on that strip, notably the Travelers (Trav) and the Athenaeum, which I strangely haven't been to, all in good time.

Speaking of which, there used to be place called the United Services Club, opposite the Athenaeum, which apparently set the officers mess tenor of Clubland. It's now something awful, the Institute of Directors, where people have business lunches and learn how to do Powerpoint when not checking the market on their phones. It is not a club, sadly, so don't be fooled.

NLC Bar

Pall Mall and Waterloo Place aside, you might want to keep walking towards Trafalgar Square, only to end up at the jolly old NatLib. Yes, the National Liberal Club, founded by Gladstone and still very much alive today. I like it for its exceptionally high ceilings and spectacular terrace overlooking the Embankment and its gardens. Most congenial and hardly snobby at all.

I love the Reform Club

Now, dear readers, all five of you, there are many more clubs and they're all awesome, but this quick shoot-out's based on the ones I mostly visit, apart from White's, and these days Boodles and the Carlton. My favorite?

Unfair question because they're all most excellent, but I love the East India for Sunday lunch, the Reform for all 'round greatness, not least garden and architecture, the In & Out for a great courtyard where and for being in "Nancy Astor's place," not shabby, and the NatLib because rough and ready Gladstonian greatness, and you can smoke, eat and drink on its enormous terrace. So, each one is best in its particular way and what you want it for. Overall? I vote the Reform as the best on this list, but that's just me, I like them all.

So there you have it.

Trade War!

Canada's loathed leader, Mark aptly named "Carney," has declared trade war on the US. America quakes in its boots, except that it doesn't. Please, let's see Alberta independence next year. Ontario, Quebec and Vancouver can go it alone without the oil they despise, and Albertans can be free from under the yoke of corporate leftist tyranny.

ACOC

In the meanwhile, here's some interpretive liturgical dance to cheer you up. I know, right, just when you thought it'd disappeared into the trash can of history. Hey, not so fast:

Beautiful, isn't it,

What Evil Buffoonery Is This?

Keen observers of the international scene will have noticed that the UK has a problem, especially if you're a woman. The Sceptered Isle's now head and shoulders the rape capital of Europe, it used to be Sweden, with over 74,000 incidents of this heinous crime being reported in 2026, as opposed to some 8,500 in 2000. What could possibly have happened?

It's a great mystery, but perhaps the UK's Home Office has solved it for us. They've crafted carefully designed brochures to give to the thousands of Moslem military aged male dinghy immigrants entering the UK every month, telling the savage rapefugees  refugees that it's not OK to act like this.

We have to wonder, gentlemen and gentlewomen, why was it ever acceptable to allow raping savages like this into any country in the first place, not least the UK; after all, no one voted for it, at least not directly. Yet here we are.

Who knows, maybe all of the UK's Moslem welfare invaders will  read the Home Office's risible, HR department, rainbow humanities degree advisement, and pause for deep thought, take a refresher course on Thomist ethics and emerge as upright citizens, or not. What utter, craven, tomfool, mendacious buffoonery. Question is, why have the people of the UK put up with this for so long, for decades? After all, their taxes are paying for this. Like no kidding, these people are paying for their own replacement. Far out. Why?

Now that's a question beyond the scope of this evening's light-hearted mind post. But I will say this. Mass immigration from the third world lowers wages, raises rents and imports votes. A win-win for big Capital and the Left, which explains its bipartisan appeal.

Remember? We had a similar operation here in the States not too long ago. Problem is, when rape numbers skyrocket in a once peacfeul society, people start to notice, they don't like it, and the Uniparty edifice begins to fracture because people don't want to vote for them anymore. Some even threaten violence, see Ireland. Canary in the coal mine?

Whatev, social media's gone to town (does anyone say that anymore?) on the Home Office's latest fit of infantile buffoonery. Thanks, Dr Swankenstein, for the infographics.

Cheers,

LSP

Get To Water

Up at first light, a quick cup of hot tea, rods in the truck and off to an obscure marina near Mission #2. I was hoping for topwater, to my mind the best fishing action, and cast off with a medium torpedo in search of bass. Sure enough, something out there in mid channel was thrashing about in piscine frenzy as it rose from the depths onto schooling shad. But it didn't want my nifty torpedo lure. Huh.

Typical

On reflection, the aquatic ambush predator was probably a gar, or several, and they're not really after plastic torpedoes, they want fish, especially shad. So I should've set up a gar rig and cast off with frozen shad. Oh well, next time. Topwater not producing, I switched to worms and caught a bluegill, which is always fun even if they're small.

Gar are big fun to fish and they're prehistoric, which is cool

Next stop, Soldiers Bluff on Lake Whitney, just minutes down the road, and worms didn't work but top and just subsurface lures showed promise, with a mighty bass (striper?) surging up on the plastic several times but... I didn't close the deal. Still, exciting to watch and as always, good for the soul to be out by the water in the clean, sage-smelling country air of the Texas Free State.

Speaking of water, you may have noticed the UK's Home Office is giving Moslem boat invaders asylum seekers brochures telling the military aged males that rape isn't allowed in the UK. More on this unsavory, absurd, traitorous, dhimwhitted story later.

Lindsay Clancy

Have you followed the strange, demonic and awful story of Lindsay Clancy? Lindsay was a nurse with three young children,  Callan, Dawson and Cora Clancy, all between 8 months to 5 years old. What happened was this. On  Jan. 24, 2023, Lindsay got her husband Patrick to go out and get takeaway and medicine for one of their children.

When he returned, he found Lindsay sprawled on the ground outside her bedroom window and his three children dead. Lindsay had strangled them to death in their basement before throwing herself out of the window.

Linday's now half-paralysed and her children are dead because she strangled them to death. Unsurprisingly, this woman's on trial for murder, infanticide even. Her defense? That she had post-partum depression and was on a slew on mind drugs. These, evidently, made her kill her children so she isn't guilty. There's all kinds of Leftist wymxn protesting it right now, "Lindsay was depressed! How dare you jail her for killing her kids!"

It's as absurd as it's evil, but what wouldn't you expect from people who vigorously champion killing their babies in the womb. Seen through this demonic lens, Lindsay was simply exercising her right to be free of depression and anxiety. But I won't bang on.

Everything about this is evil and worse, it's demonic, from murder to suicide. I'd argue that the psych drugs are part of the satanic matrix too, but that's another post.

The Religion Of Peace

Was it GW Bush who coined the obnoxious and false phrase, Islam is a religion of peace"? I think it was, on the deck of an aircraft carrier which, ironically, was all about blowing Moslems to bits. Revolting, really, when you think on it, and not least because it's an utter lie.

Islam's not a religion of peace, it's a religion of war and's been so since its conception, it was born in warfare and Mohammed its prophet was its leader. This is indisputable. That same cult went on to conquer Spain and besiege Vienna, only to be driven back.

Today it's being welcomed into what was once Western Christendom by people who hate their culture and inherited faith. Will they be pleased with the result when their nearest LGBTQ+ Free Palestine Theater Group's member's thrown off some convenient tower in East London? No doubt they'll be upset by that, just like their Leftist friends in Iran.

Winston Churchill said this:

Indeed it is evident that Christianity, however degraded and distorted by cruelty and intolerance, must always exert a modifying influence on men’s passions, and protect them from the more violent forms of fanatical fever, as we are protected from smallpox by vaccination. But the Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance. It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since its votaries have been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness. In a moment the fruits of patient toil, the prospects of material prosperity, the fear of death itself, are flung aside.

The more emotional Pathans are powerless to resist. All rational considerations are forgotten. Seizing their weapons, they become Ghazis—as dangerous and as sensible as mad dogs: fit only to be treated as such. While the more generous spirits among the tribesmen become convulsed in an ecstasy of religious bloodthirstiness, poorer and more material souls derive additional impulses from the influence of others, the hopes of plunder and the joy of fighting.

Thus whole nations are roused to arms. Thus the Turks repel their enemies, the Arabs of the Soudan break the British squares, and the rising on the Indian frontier spreads far and wide. In each case civilisation is confronted with militant Mahommedanism. The forces of progress clash with those of reaction. The religion of blood and war is face to face with that of peace. Luckily the religion of peace is usually the better armed. —The Story of the Malakand Field Force (1898), 26-27.

My Dad, rest in peace, once said, "For the first time in history we're in a position of total military dominance over Islam." And so we are, but apparently lacking the will to use it. Who knows how and if that will change. In the meanwhile, let's hope people wake up before it gets messy, because it probably will.

Rewilding!

Rocky Paths

Shocked by accusations of domestication, I loaded a couple of rods in the truck and headed out for action. First stop, Soldiers' Bluff on Lake Whitney. Sure enough, the sun shone brightly, the waters glistened and the fish didn't bite. At least not much, some junior perch ate a couple of worms and that was it. No deal.

How jolly pleasant, and it is

Next stop, a tranquil, little-used marina near Mission #2. Who knows, maybe the place is a front for a crew of international money launderers, perhaps it is, I don't know. But I do know this, there were fish, you could see them gliding about in the shallows, which is ideal for me because I don't have a boat.

Just some geese

So, after taking a photo of some geese and doing a recce around the banks and piers, I set up on a gangway overlooking a small shallow bay. Boom, first cast, something took the hook and off it ran, great result. Turned out to be a freshwater Drum and I kept that fish.

Oh look, shadow LSP returns

Then, as everything started to melt in triple digit climate change, I headed for home, fish on ice. A few moments later and there it was, on a cutting board and ready to fillet. It's not hard if your knife is sharp, and there's various ways to do it, see the internet. I prefer boneless and take the meat off the ribcage, then cut it away from the scaly skin. Others like to scale the fish and keep the skin, others again like to cut through the ribcage and keep the meat therein. Whatever, your call.

Thou Leviathan

Method aside, that 13" provided two decent fillets which were pan fried in butter, olive oil and lemon. Delicious. Word to the wise -- freshwater Drum's typically robust and firm, do not overcook it. Tomorrow's plan is simple. Viz. Get up by first light and check out some topwater, which is, for me, the most awesome fishing.

I file this exciting story under "Rewilding," which isn't always a corrupt, money-making, green virtue-signaling exercise in shabby cost cutting masquerading as saving the planet. No, in this case it's getting back on the fish.

Domesticated?

time to refinish those chairs LSP

In the old days it was all about riding, shooting, fishing, sometimes hunting. And now? You get up, feed the dog, feed the outdoors cat, drink some strong covfefe then water the ferns on the front porch before filling up the bird feeders.

I tell you, those birds are savage. All this before a trip to the bank, Walmart, Murphy's gas station for cheap cigarettes, and then back to HQ where you notice St. Augustine grass is firmly established in the back yard.

Nice, gotta love that grass, but does all this mean the famously rugged LSP lifestyle's become somehow tamed, domesticated? Terrifying prospect. Yes, but I will say this. There's nothing wrong with focusing a bit and making your compound a more pleasant place to be. Also, it's not so fun getting out in the field in triple digit, pre-heating oven atmos.

Sure, a few years back it didn't seem such a trial to take an armed stroll or ride around the country in a 104* heat dome. Today? Not so much. Does this mean Global Warming, aka Climate Change has somehow made us softer, more... domestic? Let me ponder that as I clean a couple of .38 Specials and a Glock 21. Remember, kids, a clean gun is a happy gun. Also this:

Anthropogenic global warming's settled science, right? That's why the UK doesn't use its own North Sea oil and imports it from Norway instead. OK, that said, how come Europe's burning from unprecedented Climate Change brought on by carbon making the planet hotter and Texas summer weather hasn't changed?

Seriously, if the climate's warmed up because of all the carbon, how come the Lone Star State isn't affected? Nothing's changed here, but it has in the UK and Fortress Europa, huh. OK, maybe HAARP and DARPA are keeping Texas' climate stable and heating up the new European caliphate, Middle East style.

Possible, weaponized climate control. Then again, maybe not paying Weather Tax, per Texas, has an inverse effect and scares the heat away, sending it to the EU/UK, both of which notoriously pay weather tax. It's a great mystery, magnum mysterium, and clearly time to start work on those dirty pistols.

Spy Lounge

Hope you've all had a good worship Sunday. A close friend went to Florida and an Episcopal church, they mustered 27, average age 79, and were led by a Lesbyterian. Well, serve them right for going to Largo. But here's the thing about these Lesbyterians and their middle-aged cohort.

They think, they really do, that 1970s aesthetic and lack of theology will bring the people in, not unlike the Roman hierarchy, when you think on it. Hopelessly lost in 1982. Problem is, nylon chasaubles, guitar playing nuns, wymxn priestesses, and ambi-sexual leaderenes haven't done this.

damme, if the shoe fits, don't say Lobbs

No matter how hard they cry, their populist reform hasn't been popular, as in no one's going to your lesbian church. Lo and behold, just as they destroy the culture at large, so too do they destroy its cult, the Church. Good luck with that. Think Reconquista.

Here. Years ago a friend who went on to be ordained by JPII exclaimed over the breakfast room table, "Franco was a Saint!" My dad beat the table, as in "NO!" and there it was.

Just Taking It Easy

Some years ago, many years ago now, a friend in Windsor Ontario, he was an architect, said to me, "All these boys don't want to fight, they join the Army to get school and benefits and all of that." As in they didn't want to actually fight anybody. Error. But whatev, I still like this classic and maybe you do too, treetop flyer:

Stand Up For Life

Evening Prayer (1928 BCP, thank you very much) is said, birds sing, a dog rests after a hard day of collecting welfare, and Fr. Louis teaches something Mexican in the church hall. And all seems well with the world, at least from this rural Texan point of view.

You wouldn't know, from this vantage point, that 10 states in the Union allow abortion up to birth. You might be excused for glossing over the fact that our country's 39 Trillion Dollars in debt and that Western Europe's committing demographic suicide. They've apparently lost the will to live, along with Massachusetts, Minnesota, Alaska, Colorado Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont.

You'll note all these are Democrat strongholds. Why, we ask, does the Left hate life to the extent of killing babies, which is exactly what we're talking about. Ostensibly it's all about women's freedom and autonomy; to be a factor in the means of production and so achieve meaning and happiness. Babies stand in the way of that, obviously, so get rid of them and be free. In other words, I want a career and cash and having a baby doesn't fit in with that, so I'll choose wymxns healthcare.

Or something like that, but there's a deeper reason or animus behind this demonic slaughter. Nihilism. The Left hates Western culture and its Faith, values, and aesthetic; it hates Western civilization itself. As Roger Scruton reminds us, for every value or achievement our forbears thought valuable there's a university course deconstructing the same.

Destroying the family and convincing women to go against their most natural instinct, to bear and raise children, in fact to kill them, is perhaps the most heinous of crimes. Their end is destruction and there will be a reckoning. Divine justice demands it.

You Satan

In the meanwhile, Massachusetts Governor  Maura Healey signed literal infanticide into law as her female cheerleaders clapped and gushed, a scene from Hell. At the time of writing, neither the Pope nor any member of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops have excommunicated Maura, a self-proclaimed Catholic. You can, apparently, kill babies unrepentantly and still receive Holy Communion. Burning coals spring to mind, there will be a Reckoning.

Stand For Life,

LSP
