Another One Bites The DEI Dust

Just when you were thinking Dumb, Evil, Idiot (DEI) couldn't sink any lower, another one bites the dust. This time it's Philly's DEI Officer, Leslie Marant, via Zero:

Thanks to help from Harvard's Claudine Gay, who was unable to condemn harassment on her campus against Jewish students and was later found to have plagiarized <checks notes...> what appears to be her entire body of academic work, it looks as though the diversity, equity and inclusion ("DEI") wolf in sheep's clothing is finally starting to be seen for what it is.

That reverberation may have made its way to Philadelphia, where the crime and drug-ridden city is once again attempting to make a swift change back to law and order under newly-sworn in mayor Cherelle Parker, widely acknowledged to be the most pro-police candidate out of the Democratic choices in the city.

And just hours before Parker was sworn into office, the Philadelphia Police Department’s first diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, Leslie Marant, was fired, according to a report by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Almost as if when your hellscape of a city needs more police desperately, it doesn't matter what color, race, creed or orientation they are. Go figure.

Leslie's radical socialist salary was a mere 170K+. I guess that makes zhir a low-level satrap.

Cheers,

Urban Hellholes

it was bad then

Everyone here knows it but many choose to ignore it; Europeans can scarcely comprehend much less believe it, but our major cities are urban wasteland hellholes. Seriously, I'd email pals in the UK from Detroit in '98 and I don't think they believed me.

No, fools. The urban, asset-stripped carnage of the Motor City seemed like hyperbole, mind blogging perhaps to them, wild exaggeration. But no, I was pulling punches. Here's Detroit:

Beautiful, isn't it. Here's Chicago:

And let's not forget the nation's Capitol, DC:

But perhaps you're wondering what happened to Gary Indiana:

And on, and on, and on.  Everywhere you look our cities are decaying into urban, hellhole wastelands. It's America's dirty little secret if you like, but not to worry, we have trans bathrooms, rainbow hurray!

That aside, do you think the outward and visible reflects the inward and spiritual?

Supernatural Sunday

Mass at the Missions went well, despite our old enemy the Weather, and everyone was happy, the Spirit moved. The Spirit moved! How lightly we take that phrase, the third person of the Trinity moved with infinite power amongst the people of North Central Texas. Really? Yes, really. That in mind, I recall a time outside Philadelphia, in a failed, asset-stripped steel town.

The church was beautiful, very, and had a perfect side chapel, I do not say that lightly. So that was used for daily Mass, the Divine Office and, at Noon, the Rosary. There I'd be, at 12, praying the rosary and sometimes a few people joined in but mostly not. No bad thing, say your prayers, LSP.

Well, one day I rolled up for the devotion, all very cassock and beads, and said the prayers, I forget which mysteries. And, as I recited out loud, was pleased to hear a few voices behind me joining in, the rosary's better in company.

Good, I thought, this habit of prayer's catching on. Then, when the devotion finished I turned around and no one was there. Had I hallucinated? Conceivable. To test things out I invited a friend to join me the next day, which he did.

The same thing happened, several voices joining in, they sounded like women, and no one was there apart from us. I asked him if he'd heard what I heard, and he had. He is now a priest.

Make of this what you will and as you do, remember Lepanto.

In The Ghetto

This one's for fellow blogger, patriot, journalist and art philospopher, Jules. Sometimes you find yourself in the ghetto. Whaddya do? Climb into the rig and play Elvis' soulful tune at VOLUME as you drive up and down the street, while local PD takes down dealers and confiscates Range Rovers.

Behold Our Urban Shitholes

Speaking of which, a girl once said to me, "I wrote an essay on the ghetto," she was a TA at SMU. After she'd gone a friend commented, "I thought you'd sh*t and go blind."
