If you go to a major US base, like Fort Hood, home to several armored divisions, you'll see hundreds of tanks and associated vehicles in their respective motor pools. Pity the poor, literally underpaid, soldiers that tend to these armored beasts. That in mind, any one of I CAV's vehicle parks at Hood is probably about the size of the UK's total force.
Point being, why should the US continue to run security for Europe and the UK, why? They hate us, seriously, literally, they really hate us. You doubt me? Take a walk through downtown London with your stab vest and ask the locals. Man, they hate and scorn us. Why? Because we're not commies, like what they are.
Go on, try it. Land at the French House or Coach & Horses in Soho and tell them you're American. I dare you, and if you're bold enough to do so, watch the Leftist venom drip from their literally bankrupt lips. Yes, they really hate you. Why? Because we dare say no to Globohomo corporate rainbow orthodoxy. And that's too bad for Rainbow Fortress Europa because it relies on the US for armed security, gas in the absence of cleverly sanctioned Russia, and, well, all their dam money.
This is sad. Patriotic Americans love Great Britain, they really do, and want to boost the Sceptered Isle. I know this, think Winston Churchill, but how can we even begin to lend our not inconsiderable force to the equation when the other end of the math doesn't add up? We can't and shouldn't.
Why should one American die in defense of a Kultur Bloc which hates us, why should a single American soldier die in defense of the UK? To protect puberty blockers, rape gangs, open borders and suicidal empathy? I won't bang on, you get the point, and let's make it more clear.
Why should Americans pay tax, give their money, to people who hate them? That'd be the Europeans. Cut 'em loose? Your call.
Your Best Pal,
LSP

Wiser people than me have said we need to keep the European from going to war with each other ever ten to fifteen years as they have for centuries. My personal view? Have at it, me hearties, Comrades, etc.
+1.
Expand your scope. Include the EU and NATO, why should we protect people who don't want to pay for their own protection? Protect people who deny their people free speech?
Yes, countries like Poland, support them. Heck, drop all treaties and remake them, supporting only countries that actively engage in their own defense and treat their own people humanely (and tell the foreign invaders to go copulate themselves.)
Next time Europe goes crazy on itself, we need to sit back and enjoy the popcorn.
I hadn't realized the average Brit felt that way. Very disappointing.
So, they have nukes. Sea launched and air deliverable. What happens to those when they go full-tilt Muslim?
London is London, and please do not judge all of England, or the UK for that matter, by that shit-hole.
We're a small country but the urban/rural divide is just as large here as it is on your side of the pond, and I'll bet a pound to a pinch of shit that you got a better reception outside of London.
And their own WWII vets (that are still alive) are appalled.
WSF, at this point I'm with you. That said, there's change in the air, I think.
You'll pardon this rather lopsided post, RHT, but why should we be running security for them? They hate us, they're rainbow commies and more enemy than not. Mind you, TransEuro's hardly a threat, except for our taxpayers.
Totally agree, Mr. Beans.
Let's hope that time's far in the future, Anon.
In fairness, Wild, I was thinking of lib London and getting worked up. There's plenty of people there who don't hate us (!) and I think it'd be wrong us all to not meet up in London's clubland in the near future (LL keeps threatening to do so but we haven't managed it, yet).
Not sure about the readiness of their nukes... hmmmm.
Hey, nbc, this ranty post was a bit unfair. Soho libs aren't representative, for sure. Had lots of positive vibes on Sept 13 and yes, in the country too.
My real complaint is fiscal. Why should the US taxpayer front cash for UK/Euro defense, what benefit do we get from that? Precious little unless you're in the MIC, or something like that.
Anyway, please don't get me wrong, I love the UK and its people and must, at some point, renew my passport.
GenX, a dying breed! You know, I used to bring Communion to to an old man in a nursing home in Reading (not far from London). He fought in submarines, in World War I. Whoa. They're gone now.
Thank you for the clarification. Had me going there for a bit.
Yes, DLC muster in London. Take a page from the Baptists and "get up a group and go." Mrs. was a travel agent back when that was worth something and traveled extensively dang near everywhere worth going to, and after all that galivanting declared London as her favorite city on the planet. God knows she's never wrong about anything.......
It'd be fun, Wild. Let's see if we can make it happen. And yes, London has a greatness to it.
