It took fifteen ballots but Kevin McCarthy is now Speaker of the House, taking over from octogenarian plastic surgery victim Nancy Pelosi. Kevin represents California's 20th district and lives it up accordingly. CA Knowledge tells us that this beloved politician's worth a nifty $95 million. Not shabby, eh?
Well, at least the wealthy mountebank doesn't pretend to be a Socialist, there is that. But no wonder, he has a hideous an 8,200 square foot mansion in the Sunshine State. Just look at how beautiful it is!
Do you think Kevin's going to use his reported wealth to help those he's allegedly serving and, more to the point, help the GOP to actually win? As in, win anything at all for the people in the face of our elite kleptocracy? Sorry, rhetorical question, of course he won't, he's part of the problem.
Serious question. Can we vote our way out of this?
Drain the Swamp,
LSP

Vote our way out of this? No sir, I do not believe that is possible.
Can we vote our way out os this?
Others have remarked about how just 20 determined men and women forced change because the process was in the open and each and ever eligible voter had no choice but to vote yea, nay, or present.
Nationwide, our election system is rigged. Until that changes, we will never vote our way out of anything, IMO.
Vote our way out? Maybe using the cordless hole puncher you are demonstrating if a better way does not present itself.
Do you begrudge the man a swimming pool, LSP? It's not as if he can take a dip in Lake Whitney anytime he wants to. He's trying to make do as a servant of the people.
"If voting made a difference, they wouldn't let us do it. " Attributed to Mark Twain, perhaps mistakenly.
Nope... Re McCarthy, he's never actually held a job outside politics... Grrr...
Anyone in Congress with a pool IN his house, is suspect. If someone running has one of those 24’ Walmart above ground round jobbies - with blue waves on the side - running off an extension cord with the little side mount ladder…much more trustworthy.
McCarthy’s hair is too perfect to be honest, and that indoor pool??? Yet they begrudge Trumps 80’s billionaire bathroom in gold leaf.
That's not his pool, that's his bath tub.
rel
Furthermore, Paul M, they begrudged Trump his second scoop of ice cream whilst p-Resident Brandon is not often seen without a double cone and "aviator" sunglasses, but they're just fine with that.
I will never be seen in a pair of "aviator" sunglasses because I am not now, nor have I ever been and probably never will be a real aviator, and also because Brandon wears them. God forbid someone should get me confused with that fraud.
Vote our way out of this?
Only if we fix the vote.
I believe the majority wants it different.
And McCarthy was not rubber stamped.
He had to concede.
Hoss, I'm right with you.
Sure looks that way, WSF. Brazil uses the same voting machines we do, curiously.
Now that, Surfer, is an option. How many firearms were sold last year? Sorry, rhetorical.
Mr. Wolf, I do not begrudge the pool, have at it, millionaire, but the ugliness is another matter again. Speaking of which, Wellington on the first Reform Parliament, "Never saw such shocking bad hats in all my life."
But yes, our beloved Speaker's doing the best he can with what he has. Not easy on a public servant's salary, eh?
Good call, Wild.
NFO, I especially like that game show host visage. What's with these people? Apart from heaps of cash, obviously.
Totally agree, Paul. What a gang of thieving hypocrites.
OK, 45 = Pompey Redivivus but that looks GOOD, imo, compared to these scoundrels.
Anon, are you criticizing our Beloved Speaker?
Wild, I own a pair of aviators. I can't wear them now, obviously.
