Here's the thing. The broad path of licentiousness, of "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law," of "No Gods No Masters!" is all very well until you get to the rodeo and end up with 3 screws in your femur. Don't do that, enter by the "strait gate" instead, or its anemic friend "narrow door."
Lectionary notes aside, the Recruit suggested I try out a cane at Walmart and guess what, it worked. This means bye-bye walking frame, hello cane. And I tell you, I like the evolution. So does the dog. The appalling frame confused Blue Eschaton. But perhaps you're asking "is there a sword in that stick?" and "if not why not?"
Don't worry, we'll sort it out. In the meanwhile, the kid's with Uncle Sam, waiting to fly out to Ft. Benning tomorrow. More on that later.
Cheers,
LSP

Turn the cane into a shotgun. It can be done. The sword is cool, but a rifled slug has a bit more bite.
Good luck to the Cadet. I hope to be there at his graduation from Basic.
Hmmmm. RHSM, you have a point and a good one.
TBH, I've been missing out on rifled slug action, through sheer laziness, and ought to fix it. This cane affair is obviously an opportunity.
It'd be great if you could make it -- in the UK it's called a "Passing Out Parade" -- I like that, martial.
A sword cane would be a cool touch.
Be prepared. A grandson was shocked to see this grumpy old grandpa get all teary eyed at my son's graduation from Basic.
WSF, I was a bit choked up this morning. And CONGRATS!
Good Luck and Prayers sent for The Recruit.
And increased mobility is a good thing.
Canes are good for a lot of things than just walking. But be careful as they won't stop you from tripping and falling.
Good luck and God bless you and your son.
Just make sure that your cane is at least 16" long ...
;-)
Progress, however small, is still progress! Congrats on 'graduating' to the cane!
The cane is very Brit,
you could use a BAFX Products Adjustable Anti Shock Strong & Lightweight Aluminum Hiking Poles for Walking or Trekking
Carbide tip for stabbing!
I cried, not the norm for me, when my grandson had his Pass-In-Review. I was not alone in that, many other warrior grandparents were doing the same.
Congrats to the Cadet, and prayers up!
Thanks for the prayers, drjim. I think they were answered.
Linda, I badly need a sword stick!
The boy got off well.
Borepatch, noted.
It's a tremendous relief, NFO. Hated that dam frame.
Brig, when I woke up on the morning I was pretty choked up. Have to say. I probably will be again at the kid's graduation (better happen...).
MUST GET SWORD STICK.
PS. In my old regiment, disbanded alas, officers had the privilege of a black jersey sweater AND a cane.
Karma goes full circle.
