Scary

Undead
I was going to post a short bucolic piece on the therapeutic pleasures of horse riding but got badly hijacked by Drudge and the ongoing scary saga of the Middle East. Will it all result in a new dawn of peace, love and freedom, like a big Woodstock in the sand?

Freeloading Hippies
Or will it be a disaster of epic, apocalyptic proportions?

Age of Aquarius
I'd say the vote was out.

Lord have mercy.

I just try and remember that Jesus has a plan and he will make things happen in his time, not ours. Prayers are needed for peace to be firmly planted in the Middle East.

That's a very good Providence point - prayers are certainly needed too, especially for Christians who are badly persecuted throughout the region.

Lord have mercy indeed. I wish these people well, and I also wish we could disentangle ourselves from that region.

I'm hoping for the best, but we should brace for the worst. Muslims are King Midas in Reverse, everything they touch turns to crap.

I pray this turns out well, LSP.

"King Midas in reverse"? Well said, Silverfddle.

He really doesn't look at all well, Bunni.

I'd say prayers were well in order...

God bless.

I'm coming round to the view that Gdafyduck is in fact an Israeli agent (an explanation for his longevity that Ollie B brought back with him from Tel Aviv)

The situation on the ground is not quite as clear cut as the news is making it out to be, in Iran over 60% og the population is under 35 years of age. Will young people seize the future from the gnarled hands of old men? Will the west support their transition or attempt to 'stick with what we know' to keep the oil flowing?

May you live in interesting times - and chose to be a part of them.

Excellent comment SBW - "Will young people seize the future from the gnarled hands of old men?" is especially good.

Armchair generalship aside, it seems as though the West has an opportunity to stand for the principles we say we support. We appear to have been rather selective in applying those; after all, there's been several lucrative deals struck with 'The Colonel' in recent years.

My feeling is that the apparent policy of accommodating evil despots might well come back to bite us.

In the meanwhile, gas prices continue to rise and battle groups maneuver.

Interesting times indeed.

Smart people are prepping up.
