In 1521 Pope Leo X acclaimed Henry VIII Defender of the Faith, Fidei Defensor, my, how that worm turned. Picture the monasteries of England plundered and destroyed, their abbots hung, drawn and quartered, all to enrich the royal purse.

In fairness, Henry needed cash, lots of it, and monastic land and wealth were clearly too easy a prize to give up. And what happened? Per Belloc, Henry's land grab created a whole new class of millionaires. Go figure, the Tudor despot had to buy powerful votes, to say nothing of needing ready cash.

Fast forward to today and the English monarch still retains Pope Leo's honorific, Fidei Defensor, FD; well kind of. King Charles III's broadened the title's definition to mean "protecting the space of Faith." Protecting the space of Faith. 

There he is, the anointed King of England, crowned in Westminster Abbey, announcing to all the world that his protectorate extends not just to any one Faith  or even all of them, but to the space in which they exist. What does this even mean?

Nice suit, shame about the Apostate

Most obviously, that the King is a Space Protector and the icy vacuum of the interstellar void springs to mind. According to Charles, he's defending or protecting nothing, not Christianity, Hinduism, Islam or anything else, just empty space. Don't say vacuous. But of course we can put it another way, more bluntly.

He's an apostate traitor to the Faith he swore at his coronation to defend, the Christian Faith which is whole, complete and entire, the Catholic Faith given once for all by Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life. Not one way amongst many, the way. But the current monarch can't bring himself to come down on the side of this and what can we say? It's hard, right about now, to be a monarchist.

OK, salute the uniform not the man, don't be a Donatist, but please, can we not have a Christian ruler in the UK to lead and rally the faithful, to undo, even, the rapacious crime of the Tudor despot. Clearly not yet. We wait in hope.

2TK's worth an estimated nifty £7-13 million. Not Socialist shabby, at least by UK standards. That in mind, Keir's dad was a toolmaker and a member of the industrial working class 2TK appears to despise. Maybe he hated his father which is why he's busy replacing him with Moslems.

Obama, You Are A Mosque Dhimmwit

Barack Hussein Obama made his first presidential visit to a US mosque today and praised Islam for its compassionate mercy and charity.

“Like so many faiths, Islam is rooted in a commitment to compassion and mercy and justice and charity," stated Obama, "Whoever wants to enter paradise, the prophet Mohammad taught, let him treat people the way he would love to be treated.”

So what part of plundering a city like Khaybar and taking its women as sex slave wives counts as charity? But maybe beheading 700 Jews at Medina is the way Mohammed wanted to be treated, as in eye for an eye. I think that's in the Koran somewhere, and the Prophet took it from the Old Testament while ignoring the New.

Here's the thing; Muslims are supposed to emulate Mohammed and they often fail. Christians are supposed to emulate Christ, and like their Muslim counterparts they don't do a desperately good job of it. Now, one of these religious leaders was a warlord who took captured women as sex slaves, the other wasn't and didn't.

Let's not pretend, by some magical, rainbow hued, frolicking unicorn sleight of hand that both religions share the same values, as though Mohammed was just another way of spelling Jesus. They're very different, as are the implications of following either.
