Fort Worth Loses -- For Now

The 2nd Court of Appeals has ruled against the Diocese of Fort Worth, finding in favor of the Episcopal Church, which claims all the property and assets of the Diocese along with its Corporation.

This appears to go against a previous decision by the Texas Supreme Court, which was in favor of the Diocese and led to the Tarrant County Court ruling against the Episcopal Church.

The Diocese of Fort Worth split from the Episcopal Church in 2009 over the denomination's endorsement of gay marriage, women priests and associated heterodoxy. The Episcopal Church then proceeded to sue the Diocese of Fort Worth for its buildings and money.

Bishop Iker anticipates that the final decision in this ongoing litigation will lie with the state's Supreme Court. The full text of his statement follows below and if the Episcopal Church finally wins, what will it do with a diocese full of empty churches. Sell them for mosques or translesbian theater workshops?

+++++++

The Second Court of Appeals has issued its long-awaited ruling in our litigation, and the Court has found in favor of TEC’s arguments that TEC decides who belongs to their Diocese and that their Diocese controls the Corporation Board of Trustees, as well as all property and other assets.

Our attorneys are reviewing the 178-page opinion, and I will have a conference call with them tomorrow to discuss how to proceed. As we have said in the past, we have anticipated all along that the Texas Supreme Court will make the final decision on this matter.

As the legal battle continues, let us remain focused on the Risen Jesus and our mission to proclaim the Good News to all people.

The Rt. Rev. Jack Leo Iker
Bishop of Fort Worth

Snowblind

The snow started to come down fast a little before midnight; I found that exciting. Of course snow used to be rare in Texas, before it got colder because it's hotter.

Blue Ice Age had fun romping about in the white stuff this morning, though he seemed angry at the kids making snowmen on the sidewalks. I don't know why.

And now it's melting away, like the membership of the Episcopal Church itself, which keeps losing lawsuits and still keeps suing. Like a snowblind crazy person.

Be careful on the ice,

Episcopal Church Theology Driven Back

The Episcopal Church's (TEC) theology was dealt a serious blow yesterday, after air defense around Fort Worth drove the dwindling denomination's mystery bomber back to its secret base in New York.

Episcopal Church Theology Over Texas

Spotted earlier this week on its way to bomb Texas, the Episcopal Church's theology attempted to launch GAYDAM runway-denying munitions against the Diocese of Fort Worth, cloaked by a screen of TRANS Chaff. If successful, the GAYDAMs would have put a stay on proceedings to rehear TEC's case against the traditionalist Diocese of Fort Worth according to Texas' neutral principles of law.

GAYDAMs

However, TEC's bombs failed to deploy, with Judge Chupp denying the Episcopal Church's request for a stay and releasing $100,000 back to the Diocese of Fort Worth, which it had paid to the court as a bond. The rehearing will now take place as previously mandated by the Texas Supreme Court.

TRANS Chaff

The Episcopal Church's theology has stated its intention to appeal to the US Supreme Court.

I have a good mind to go off and shoot some guns in celebration.

Episcopal Visitation

Jack Iker, Real Bishop

Every year the Bishop, Jack Iker,  makes the long trek out of Fort Worth into the missionary hinterland that is the South Western tip of the spear of the Diocese of Fort Worth. He did so today and the conversation went like this.

LSP:  Welcome to our little slice of paradise, yer grace!

+Iker:  I hear roosters!!

LSP:  Just keepin' it real, yer honor.

+Iker:  Very good!

Seriously, the roosters kick up a heckuvva racket of a morning; hard to make yourself heard saying Mass, but the bishop did well and preached admirably on love.

Jefferts Schori, Boy Bishop

Speaking of love, the Diocese of Fort Worth is being sued by Presiding Boy Bishop Jefferts Schori and her gang of libs. The case is before the Texas Supreme Court and who knows, they might reach a decision anytime soon. If it goes against us we lose everything to the libs, including the LSP compound. That, to my mind, would be a shame.

God bless,

LSP
