"Huh," I thought to myself, Sherlock Holmes style, "Where are they?" Good question, surely they weren't at Shooky's, which is a pleasant marina restaurant overlooking the lake.
As you know, intuition is key in the detective trade and I followed it, arriving at Shooky's some 20 minutes after Mass. It's alright there, it has a resort marina friendly vibe and a great view of the lake, and the food's alright. I ordered catfish, onion rings, hush puppies and a plastic beaker of cold white wine. Nice. Next step?
Wander around jolly old Shooky's and look for the lost sheep of the house of Mission #2. Lo and behold, there they were, in the pool room. A grin, "Happy Feast of the Ascension! You do know the food here's even better after Mass." What can I say? Caught in the act, and a good time was had by all, what good people.
Oremus:
Concede, quaesumus, omnipotens Deus: ut, qui hodierna die Unigenitum tuum Redemptorem nostrum ad caelos ascendisse credimus, ipsi quoque mente in caelestibus habitemus.
Grant, we beseech Thee, almighty God, that we who believe Thine only-begotten Son, our Redeemer, to have this day ascended into heaven, may ourselves dwell in spirit amid heavenly things.
God bless you all,
LSP

The shepherd knows his sheep, wot?
I don't know if you've ever read any Arthur Conan Doyle (excellent reading material), but Watson was much smarter in the books than the scatterbrained idiot he was portrayed in the movie.
Also, Sherlock was a bit of a.....how shall I put it.....difficult personality.
What has this got to do with anything? I don't know. It's Friday and my brain started leaking mid week.
The tin roof, rusted, looks great in the Shooky's photo.
I was reading a social media post about the Ascension yesterday, and having a tab open for an AI LLM, I asked the LLM to respond respond to the question about why He didn't remain on earth (Prompt: На сороковой день после Своего трехдневного Воскресения из мертвых Господь наш Иисус Христос на глазах у множества Своих учеников с Елеонской горы в окрестности Иерусалима вознесся на небо (Деян. 1:1-12). Почему же Он не остался?). The LLM froze, and when restarted, just showed a spinning ball of confusion. Maybe it had left for the AI equivalent of Shooky's.
The family and I were on Naxos this week and on Thursday staying out on a secluded beach. Just off shore there is a tiny island (rock) barely big enough for a small Greek Orthodox chapel - pretty cool to see. Well on Wednesday at lunch, the local owner told us there was a festival there on Thursday. So we took a small boat out to the island where there was a full-blown Orthodox ceremony going on at the chapel - we lit candles, kissed an icon of Jesus, listened to chanting (which went on for hours). Then the local men set up a few sheep feeders, filled them with coals and chicken wire, and proceeded to grill up the best pork souvlaki we've had (all the while sipping some sort of homemade raki out of plastic bottles); handing it out to the kids while we basked in the sun and watched the festivities. It was amazing to be a part of something that has been going on for probably centuries. Wonderful to see.
