Good question, what's it like in this Free State. Well, I'll tell you. It's baking hot and we haven't had any rain for months. I'll be candid, going outside is like walking into a pre-heating oven. And that'd be fine, it happens every year, but this time it's amplified by NO SKYWATER. Literally, no rain for months. What does this mean?
Clearly HAARP is working against us. Black Hats. Chem Trail White Hats? Ineffective, obviously. Net result? We swelter and pray for rain. Seriously, I remember pulling into Brookshires supermarket car park 15 years ago or so and... it began to rain, big time. One guy got off of his rig, took off his shirt, raised his arms and stood there in a kind of ecstasy.

I'm in Connecticut and it has rained about every other day. We had a 4 or 5 day heatwave early in the summer but near constant rain. Its raining right now.

We here in North Central Florida started out 30" low in rainfall at the beginning of the summer. But 6" here, 5" there, almost 20" last month and we're getting some decent rainfall. All of it spread out over days and weeks so good soaking rains.
All without stupid swirly storms dumping be-gallons of moisture all at once.
I'll have to admit to not enjoying Kelton's western fiction very much but I'd put The Time It Never Rained up against most any American writer's work. He also wrote the non-fiction Sandhills Boy that's also quite good about his family and ranching and failing at being a cowboy and WWII and learning to write. I had to go to San Angelo several years ago on bidness and asked the gentleman I met with if he knew Kelton, who had passed by then. Very well, it turned out, and quite favorably. That alone made the trip worth it.
