Smoke Rises

Yes, over the Dallas Compound, but not because of errant Iranian drones or rogue F 4 strikes. No, because it seems right to grill up some chicken on this beautiful springlike day. In related news, the UK's airbase in Cyprus was hit by drones or missiles, maybe via Hezbollah, and guess what? It didn't have any air defense.

Well go figure. You'll also be amazed to know there aren't any Royal Navy ships stationed off Cyprus or anywhere else much, so the kindly Greeks have stepped in and sent a frigate and a couple of F 16s, or something like that, to defend Crown interests against the missile armed savages. You can imagine, dear readers, Lord Palmerston going apoplectic with rage at such a dismal state of affairs.

Terrifying prospect, but in the meanwhile we most definitely seem to be at war, UK assistance notwithstanding. What's your take on it? I'd say, for what little it's worth, that it's a good thing to take out the Ayatollahs and free the Persians. Can we do it without causing yet more chaos and nation wrecking in the Middle East? Precedent argues we won't, but maybe we'll buck the trend. For that matter, do we have enough munitions and their resupply to conduct a protracted war?

If not, this whole thing's a great gamble. To put it another way, will Iran fold like a paper monkey. Or not. Not being a betting man, I'm keeping my fighting monkey safely out of the ring to wager on a safer bet. You may feel otherwise, your call.

And almost forgot! Let's have Constantinople back while we're at it. You'll note the Iranians haven't attacked Turkey, a NATO member, even as they attack the UK, also a NATO member.

Cheers,

LSP

LSP: This war is bigger than the Media is portraying it. If we look at a map and who's aligning with whom; this could be pivotal for the future of Civilization. If Iran falls, the Globalists will have control over the entire Middle East and the corridors will be thrown open for their planned moves against Russia and China.

Whatever we might think of these Governments, they are problematic for the regions they occupy; but if the Globalists succeed we're going to find ourselves---and eventually the world---under the thumb of the architects of the Great Reset. All of these degenerate Gulf State monarchies; Starmer and King Chuck; our own Beltway Oligarchs; and the Zionists are fighting for a One-World Regime run by people just like them. Like it or not, Iran has to stop them. Granted Americans, Brits, and others should have stopped them at home before it got to this point, but we didn't; so now it's up to the Moslems.

So far PDJT has been consistent is what his objectives are. The Night Wind may be correct but I think we can believe what PDJT wants is to make sure Iran will never have a nuclear capability; not in the next few years, but never. I believe that is his only objective. Will other actor "not let a good crisis go to waste"? Of course.

All Iran has is drive the main nations in the area together. Kind of like how the ChiComs have driven violent enemies together as allies in the western Pacific. Which we see South Korea grudgingly working with Japan while Japan transfers old naval and air assets to the Philippines and even Vietnam is acting friendly to the non-CCP nations.

As to the evil central powers controlling the world using dark satellites and central banks, well, Trump's done a Patton-ish assault and turn on that over Iran and Gaza. What's funny is the Don is doing exactly what he said he would do if he was in power, back in 1980, over Iran. Squash them flat.

Historically nobody starts a war they plan to lose.

Trump is trying to cripple China's oil supply first with Venezuela and now Iran.

Busting IRAN shuts down that US Dollar problem of the China's Belt and Road project that was by passing the need for expensive sea transport and thus making Russian-Chinese and the BRIC nations an "unfair Advantage" in trade.

WHY? Because China holds the stranglehold on rare earth mining and most of all processing (A NASTY DIRTY job).

Don thinks I got your oil, give me my rare earths as rebuilding it in America will take DEACADES IF you can get it done past the rogue Judges and obstructionist Congress critters.

I notice that China watched good ole USA say "stop that war Ukraine" while PROVIDING ISR from our satellites so Ukraine could send drones all across Russia.

Funny, NOT Funny that China and probably Russia is doing that ISR for Iran.

You MIGHT want to wander over to SONAR 21 site and see how our limited amount of missile inceptors MIGHT in but a few days force our fleet to flee the battle zone or get sunk for a Pearl Harbor situation for US Nukes to be deployed.

Iran's attacks so far have been to avoid enraging America with a Pearl Harbor massive salvo attack on the CV Lincon.

But those "Random, piss of their neighbors' attacks" SO described by Mass Media has damaged badly the US Navies safe repair and refit areas in that area. Vertical launch tubes so beloved by missile interceptors and Tomahawk missiles CAN NOT BE RELOADED AT SEA and they must go to the now destroyed Naval base in Bahrain.

BTW not reported by mass media is those civilian shipping destroyed by Iran were Military Resupply vessels. Two refueling ships (jet fuel burning) AND at least one munitions ship.

Trump has thrown the dice on a huge bet that America could behead the enemy, and they would fold quickly before we run out of ammo.

Pray for the safety of our sailors put out there in a perhaps Pearl Harbor situation as I recall the Israel has already attacked US Ships before. The USS Liberty spring to mind? False Flag attacks are part of the Mossad Motto "We make war by Deception". You might want to look that up.

Let's see now: major loss of arms to the Taliban, lots of support to Ukraine ... probably elsewhere and to others as well. Do we have enough for us? Stay tuned, we'll find out soon.

I've reloaded a VLS canister at sea , ship to ship , on the USS Lake Erie CG70 (before they removed and welded shut the VLS Crane ) using our starboard midships sliding padeye and the center hook of a gullwing strongback and two electric dollies designed for the task. To say it it is a hairy and scary evolution would be true , to say it can't be done or hasn't been done is false and a discredit to the men who I worked with to accomplish that particular extremely awkward task , in less than decent seas . Perhaps the new TRAM System will get to be used , but I doubt it .

Istanbul was Constantinople

Old Constantinople's still has Turkish delight

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you′ve a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it, I can't say
(People just liked it better that way)

Take me back to Constantinople
No, you can′t go back to Constantinople
Now it′s Istanbul, not Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody′s business but the Turks'

Yes, they have done it in reasonably calm seas not under threat of incoming fire and decided to abandon that for Port resupply.

Sad that someone figured out that blasting the nearby ports could make that a problem.

It's the reason why the pitiful Hothis and US navy games was hothis 2 and navy 0.

Thank heavens that the Greeks are filling the void left by the British.

Yes that is true , and a ship moored inport taking on weapons is a sitting duck and would make a big boom . Two / three ships alongside making way hooked up and pumping equally so , it is a dangerous game , but somebody has to do it . Hence the combat pay hazardous duty pay imminent danger pay..........and that magic tax free when you cross that latitude . I suppose you could have extra ships c'mon over and join in the fun and rotate to Diego Garcia and load there . The Navy never planned on going through that many missiles . The Houthis proved them wrong . My point was , and it raises my ire every time I read it can't be done, USNI Reports and other publications be damned it can be done ...well not now with no VLS Cranes . We did unrep in the Persian Gulf during Desert Storm , with the reach Iran has demonstrated now , that would be interesting to say the least . Carriers need JP5 and the Gas turbines need fuel on the regular , less so if lingering on station doing race tracks or lingering about . We shall see , the TRAM System being worked out is even moreso challenged by heavy seas . I have no answers , and have been giving a great deal of thought to the subject as a very experienced deck ape performing all duties of underway replenishment . I will say the British and Australians are quite good at it too , having worked with them as well . Thanks for your reply Sir .

Took me a moment to catch on to the Hagia Sophia graphic, but I like it. Consider it An Appeal to Heaven perhaps.

I don't know about ultimate objectives, WSF, but it's certainly payback and a flex.

Beans, I get the feeling 47 isn't too keen on the Islamic State. Hey, neither am I. Have you noticed how quiet Turky is? We need Constantinople BACK.

LSP said...

Michael, I fear you might be psychic! I've been thinking the same thing. Let's see how this pans out.

LSP said...

Exactly, Anon.

Boatswain, beyond my level of knowledge but... respect.

Anon, I can't comment on navy tech except to say that the UK doesn't have any, much. Bizarrely blind call from an island, eh?

Good call, T.

LL, they really seem to be stepping up to the plate, unlike the risible Two-Tier Kier. Of course the former aren't Moslem.

Yes, Anon, and forgive me, it was an afterthought, though a good one.
