I am a supporter of the provincials, the people of the land and the small towns and places. Vive La Normandie and all that (having very very veeeeery distant ancestors who sailed from that area with William...) The people of Charles Martel and Charlemagne and even Marshal Petain (who fought the bureaucracy in order to arm and wake up France before WWII, and took the role in the Vichy Government in order to temper the damage of the Germans and the Vichy Government, and got a death sentence for it after the war. Truman wanted him to live in exile here in the US of A, Churchill wanted him to live in exile in England or somewhere in the United Kingdom. The man was much maligned by history and by the frenchies.)

I used to be a Petain hater, until I, one day, got curious and started looking for intel on him. He's a sad figure, once the pride of France and then shoved aside because his militaristic views didn't fit the needs of in-between-war France.
