Patton

Did General Patton actually say, in 1945, as Military Governor of Bavaria, "Gentlemen, I have come this morning to the inexcusable conclusion that we have fought on the wrong side. This entire war we should have fought with the fascists against the communists and not the other way around. I fear that perhaps in fifty years America will pay a dear price and become a land of corruption and degenerate morals."

The Internet, our modern Delphi, mostly tells us that he didn't, that the quote's a neo-Nazi invention fabricated to enthuse low-info patriots with anti-commie fervor. Yes, please; it then goes on to say that the quote's maybe not verbatim but that Patton probably said something like that given his deep, visceral abhorrence of Communism. Tick.

Perhaps Patton missed the point? Zu Befehl!

To be fair, it doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination to picture Patton chafing under the burden of being allied with Stalin's Soviet Mega Army. The same held true for Evelyn Waugh, when you think about it, read the Sword of Honour trilogy, and doubtless others. Still, regardless of veracity, is "in fifty years America will pay a dear price and become a land of corruption and degenerate morals" actually wrong? Check out the nearest drag queen story hour as you arrest someone for praying outside an abortion kill clinic and find out.

Patton, born 1885, strikes me as a late Victorian, an old school patriot not unlike Churchill, rising up anomalously into the modern age of jets, atom bombs and nihilist Communist degeneracy. For what it's worth, I'm glad we defeated the satanist NSDAP. Too bad the murderous Bolsheviks weren't. Patton died in a car crash in December 1945, Hillary Clinton was not alive at that time.

VE Day

England celebrated VE Day today with a military parade in London. Well done, up the Mall they went. Can you imagine the 1945 thing of it? I can, Churchill's voice sounding, parade resounding and with it the end of an era. The mighty British Empire had fought off the rapacious Prussian Hun and won, good work, but who really won the fight? The US and Russia, leaving the UK beggared and in debt.

Some two years later the British withdrew from India, only to become, in Churchill's words, "a second rate power." Is that what the UK is now, a second or third rate power in the clutches of globalist, asset-stripping Satanists, beyond the hope of return?

Let's put it another way. Can the UK break free of its corrupt Uniparty interest and become great again? Local elections say they can and, in the meanwhile, the Household Division exists. More power to it. And if America leads the way, so be it.

Regardless, imagine the scene as the news came in, Victory in Europe. Just a heckuvva thing. I remember asking a landlady in Cheltenham, of all places, what the war had been like, "You can't imagine, we were so glad when it was over." To that point:

Assumption

It's the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so take a break from pondering the iniquities of Agent Sztrok, Wacky Dog Omarosa, Russia Hysteria Syndrome and consider this instead.

From Pius XII's encyclical Munificentissimus Deus:

It is to be hoped that from meditation on the glorious example of Mary men may come to realize more and more the value of a human life entirely dedicated to fulfilling the will of the Heavenly Father and to caring for the welfare of others. We also hope that while materialistic theories [such as Communism] and the moral corruption arising from them are threatening to extinguish the light of virtue, and by stirring up strife, to destroy the lives of men, the exalted destiny of both our soul and body may in this striking manner be brought clearly to the notice of all men.

The value of human life, I'd say that's under attack right now at pretty much every level, not least from the nihilists who are working feverishly to destroy what's left of Christian culture in the West.

They won't succeed but in the meanwhile...

Ora pro nobis,
