In the LONG RUN perhaps. Seems outside forces eventually smashed Pol Pot, old age of the Commie Leadership and need for western economic input smashed Commie Vietnam into a vibrant capitalism and mostly Party controlled capitalism in China.
BEFORE that "smashing" MILLIONS of lives were destroyed. The 4 OLDS were destroyed along with any dissidents and intellectuals in China by the RED GUARD and their little Red Book.
