Of course it doesn't have to be that way. Since federalization DC crime's way down. Huh, how very Fascist, and what a mystery, how could enforcing the law amount to more law and order? Yes, magnum mysterium. I say again, it's as though DC's leftist rulers don't actually care about the people they putatively govern. Perhaps they're only in it for the cash and power as their city falls down around them.
Seems like a stop of sorts has been put to that and who knows, maybe the DC experiment will spread to other American cities. Yes please. In the meanwhile, the hippies need to go home, regroup and emigrate to San Francisco and Austin, where they can be... kettled.

As Uncle Ellis said in No Country for Old Men, "What you got here, ain't nothin' new" and therein lieth the rub. A guy I went to high skool with became an officer of the Metropolitan Police in DC and eventually worked his way up to being a homicide detective. The job kept him extremely busy, and he died of a massive heart attack, almost certainly stress related, after 19 years on the job. I had the great good privilege of visiting him a couple times and he took me down where he first started walking a beat and showed me around the less reputable parts of town. This was about 35 years ago, and it was already atrocious. Imagine being a citizen of those areas, with no hope of improvement of their circumstances. God bless Trump, Hegseth and Miller for doing what should have been done DECADES ago and may He give them the strength to finish the job.
I want Trump to go full Bukele on criminals in each and EVERY American city.
