You're all gonna die for this, right?

"Let's you and him fight."

Am I missing something about this arrangement?

Contrarian view. Since NATO was formed, no members have gotten into a war with another member. Until the recent unpleasantness between Russia and the Ukraine, there have been no European wars. Isn't this the longest Europe has been peaceful? That said, NATO is a bloated money pit filled with woke cancer.

No, but Noticing is a Hate Crime.

"Longest Europe has been peaceful" I guess you missed the whole Bosnia mess. Or look up Srebrenica (11 July 1995)

And NATO, on paper, is great idea. The problem is that (almost) none of our "allies" can field a military force. (Poland has been the one exception to that statement.)

I could put in a bunch of links, but that would trigger SPAM filters so here is one. https://wheelgun.wordpress.com/tag/german-military/

If you look at that list there are several posts from a few years back. One of my favorite ones is from 2018, when Germany didn't have enough GUNS to supply everyone in their army. For a war game they painted a bunch of broomsticks black for ancillary units. As Elon M. would say, let that sink in.

Americans will probably buy enough firearms to outfit the German military on Black Friday. Not THIS YEAR. On Black Friday.

When Germany decides that it might be worth paying for their own defense, then I will be more interested in paying for their own defense.

Here is my basic take on NATO in general and Germany in particular:

"The US agreed to defend Germany from Soviet Russia in 1946 probably made a lot of sense, given how we had helped decimate Germany in WWII, but that made less sense in 1970, less in 1999 and even less today. [2020] Germany is an industrial powerhouse. They are a wealthy country. They need to pay for – and supply – their own defense."

Fair enough. But I don’t blame the Germans for their state of “prostrate-ness” nearly as much as I blame Morgenthau and those elements in (in but not OF, by their own reckoning) the West that are STILL committed to the destruction of Germany. As I’ve said before elsewhere, I don’t particularly believe in Hell, but I sort of want to, so that I can imagine Henry Morgenthau, Jr in it.

Yes, the Germans bear responsibility for allowing themselves to be gaslit all these decades, but in the beginning they certainly had no choice but to comply. To comply with the diktats of exactly the same mentality that murdered tens of millions in Russia, and millions in the Holodomor. And now that crawling and shame and guilt (over crimes that no living German is responsible for) is part of German culture. The Solzhenitsyn quote following is about what was done to Russia, but it applies to Germany too. (And the same kind of people are doing it to the US and UK as well, albeit more subtly.)

“The fact that most of the world is ignorant and uncaring about this enormous crime is proof that the global media is in the hands of the perpetrators.”

Wild, I have to agree with Mike on this.

Report yourself.

There is that, WSF. It's weirdly expansionist too, despite being a defensive alliance against yesteryear's SovBloc. But now? Who's pushing expansionist Rainbow Corporate Bolshevism. That'd be NATO. Culturally Marxist, Corporate Sponsored NATO. Huh, a weird marriage of private yacht interest meets Franfort School identipol.

Rainbow Fascism, perhaps?

Zendo, good call. My take is this: NATO's become a Rainbow Fascist sword arm to soft/diplomatic expansionism/hegemony. Which, as you suggest, is ironic given most of the alliance's inability to actually fight a war. Huh.

Must look into the Morganthau thing, Mike.

Excellent S quote.
