Watching this with interest. Quebec has an upcoming election and the party with the strongest polling wants independence.

Alberta independence could be problematic because it's landlocked and surrounded by hostile powers. Quebec could make a go of it though, but the American and Canadian Deep States are liable to frown on independence. It was only a few years ago that Tienanmen Trudeau sent (probably foreign) stormtroopers into Ottawa.

Back under Bush Jr., there was agreement signed between US and Canadian militaries that could call in each others' forces in case of domestic insurrection, but the Media seems to have forgotten to talk about that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: How about a trade? Canada gets California and we get Alberta.

Alberta joining up with these here United States would be like a giant middle finger pointed in so many directions, the ramifications would be delicious. I don't look for them to come in immediately, however. Like Texas (independent in 1836, joined the Union in 1846) I expect there to be a lag while trans-gendered politicians and lyin' dog-faced pony soldier deep-staters get used to the idea.

Somebody will come up with the idea of the Alberta Compromise, meaning statehood for Alberta would come at the price of statehood for Puerto Rico.

The whole monstrosity could break up, WSF. Hey, let's see it.

Ed, YES.

And btw, the priest of my old church in Calgary (now RC) defied the Stasi and stayed open -- 6 Masses a Sunday, my friend. They crept in through the back alley to worship God. Premier Jason Kenney was one of 'em... Man, they slaughtered him, imo.

I'd forgotten the military thing, NW. Mind you, Canada doesn't have an armed force to speak of anymore so perhaps it null and void.

I guess a free Alberta would look north to Montana and beyond?

My dear Infidel, I've always been in favor of your plan and would like to enlarge. Let's add AUSTIN. Hey, Ottawa, all yours, have at it.

Wild, if I was an Albertan I'd be pretty fed up.

You now, working people are going to food banks because they can't afford to pay utilities, buy food and subsidize Moslems.
