Boy's on fire, and so he should be. Europeans, I think, have a hard time parsing our grift, chicanery and sheer, unadulterated malfeasance. Yet there it is for all to behold, thanks, DOGE. That in mind, how do you feel about your tax dollars going to fund Bloomberg, Politico, the WaPo, NYT and lesbian theater workshops. Did you vote for that? Some solace, Rat Claw Rubio's threatening to axe USAID from some 10,000 employees to 297. Go, Rat Claw.

Agreed; but I'm not altogether happy with subsidizing things like PragerU, Project Stargate, or luxury condos for billionaires on the Gaza Strip either.
Cut hard, cut deep. Do what my martial arts taught me and cut through the target, no surface strikes. One of my best teachers said to hit so hard you bruise the soul.
Stop all 'renewable' energy subsidies.
Stop all government payments to non-citizens.
Stop pretty much all overbearing regulations that actually screw every thing up.

Thank goodness they're after Medicare/Medicaid now. I've known for decades - actually since the inception of Medicare, what a feeding trough for fraud it is.
I worked for an optician who was doing field tests on all very young Medicaid patients. There is no earthly reason to do field tests on kids 6-7 yo. Was he paid a huge sum of money from Medicaid? No. But extrapolated over many patients he was sucking in an extra $500.00 - $1,000
per month for a test I was doing. Extrapolate that further to all the opticians in the US who were doing that and it adds up to a tidy bunch of taxpayer dollars. I finally quit in case he got swept up in a Medicaid fraud case - which, of course, he didn't. :-(
As to what Night Wind said, I agree. I'm also seeing reports that Miss Lindsay and others have organizations who've been receiving funding from USAID, and then turning it over to others who are not aligned with Trump's goals. Cut everything across the board.
Off topic (well, maybe) but I see Virtual Mirage has gone dark again. I wonder who LL PO'd this time.
Dad of Six: After USAID was shut down, Musk went on X crowing that they were funding EcoHealth Alliance which was doing bioweapons and gain-of-function research. What didn't get mentioned was that Biden had already suspended funding for EHA last May and they were being investigated for those very things. My suspicion is that Musk took credit for it and exposed it to divert attention from people like Graham who likely were implicated.
Back in the 70's, 60 Minutes did a story on the reason why medical expenses were climbing so fast. The answer was, of course, Medicaid/Medicare drove it. Prescriptions cost more. Everything cost more. Treatment was being restrained but the bloated government was demanding more and more paperwork.
Doubt it. Most likely Potatohead openly 'suspended' it while the administration found more funding from elsewhere.
Where is Great Britain in all this? How do they feel about America winning on the streets of the City of London? Are they bothered that we're cutting our budget by a trillion dollars in waste, fraud and abuse? I don't hear much from Old Blighty.
I updated software on my blog and in the process introduced a computer virus. The whole thing crashed. Because it's been in existence for 15 years, it's gigabytes and the virus cleaner has to go through the WHOLE thing and it takes time to compile the cleaned VM and put it back on line.

LL, Old Blighty has a government spending money it has not got, on things people do not need, for reasons people do not understand while stamping on a pensioner, locking people up for tweeting things that the Govenment does not like and selling off parts of our territory to people who do not want to buy them. Do not worry, British people are used to things being bat-shit crazy. You guys had to go through 46 before you got 47. As far as the UK, watch this space. It is going to get worse before it gets better, but we are buckling-up as we know the ride is going to be wild.
