SUPERGROUP

Yes, there's one Supergroup and that's Blind Faith. If you argue against this you've already lost, so there it is. That said, Stevie Boy ducked right in there and played the Mass music for my dad. And I recall this, standing in his space ship recording studio in the Cotswolds.

"You know," said the giga pop star, "I wish I was you, studying theology in London." I didn't get it, then, being a fool. It makes sense, now.

Nice one, RHT, and it was a thing to meet "Stevie Boy" (thx, dad...). Seriously, he played the Mass music at my dad's church in Cheltenham a few times. I played along too! Kyrie Eleison...

A very humble thing for a megastar to do for your father, for sure, and very much to his credit.

It takes a pretty good guitar player to get on stage and hang with the likes of Clapton. Here's another from the event RHT referenced, this selection with Mr. Winwood playing the only guitar and making it snappy. I forget how well-rounded a musician Mr. Winwood is and need a reminder now and again.

Well said, Wild. Very humble.

Backstory: Brian Jones used to live in the parish when a kid and my dad, Anglican priest, held a Requiem for onetime Stone, inviting all kinds of pop stars to attend. A few did, including Winwood, who stuck around. I found him very pleasant, and of course he was humble there too, in the face of my teen idiocy. We shared a commonality, both living at the time in Notting Hill. Anyway, won't bang on, interesting episode, and whenever he went to Dallas on tour my dad got VIP tickets, nice.

EXCELLENT link. And I'm with you on *reminder.
