Kaboom

First it was pagers, those totally forgotten by everyone bar Hezbollah comms devices. There you are, in Beirut, fixing to page your ter pal and then, boom. Dam, who knew Mossad had rigged your pager to the Hezzy supply chain, but they had. Bad day for Hezzy, no doubt about it, but was it over, like Joe Biden or a bad Taylor Swift song? No, the op intensified.

Yesterday saw walkie talkies, cell phones, solar panels, radios, household appliances, you name it, all exploding on our Jihad pals in Lebanon. What can we say? A brilliant op, no doubt about it, and it reminds me, on a lesser scale, of a Sergeant back in the '80s.

Our convo went something like this: "There we were. We knew the shooter's location and his weapon. All we had to do was swap out his ammo with rounds that'd explode in the chamber. Boom, job well done. But command said no."

I guess that Irishman got lucky, Hezbollah? Not so much. RWA comments: "The way this operation combines truly malicious cruelty and personalized precision is real art, perfect terror attack. The demoralization alone must be worse than the kinetic impact."

Quite. Leaving aside the knotty issue of the safety of your electronic devices, will they explode if you post a mean tweet, what's your take on Israel's latest Lithium Offensive? Mine is this. If I were Israel facing an existential threat (Thank God you're not - Ed.) I'd go full on defeat the enemy, no holds barred. Pagers, walkie talkies, smart fridges, EVs, phones, tablets, wifi speakers, you name it, all fair game.

Point being, if you're in a state of war, see Israel Oct 7, do it to win. That said, does Operation Pager cross the line into unjust war and ethically invalidate itself. I don't think so, but you might. Feel free to disagree.

Serious Business

En lieu of anything remotely serious from me, here's the inimitable Armchair Warlord on last night's raid into the Strip:

Update: Israeli troops withdrew after some skirmishing.  It's unclear whether they ever actually entered Gaza proper or engaged from beyond the fence, or how well the respective sides came off.

The fundamental problem the IDF and the Israeli government in general faces right now is that to accomplish their stated goal of destroying Hamas, bombing, shelling and armored incursions into open areas of the Gaza Strip (which they had restricted themselves to in previous rounds of fighting) will not do the job.  At some point Israeli APCs are going to have to roll up to the first line of shattered concrete housing blocks, drop ramps and dismount infantry.  And those infantrymen are going to have to get behind their assault rifles and go to work.  Block by block, building by building, room by room, through an army of enemies and an ocean of civilians, until the job is done.

I think at this point Netanyahu has placed an order with the butcher for a bloodbath and now he doesn't want to pay the bill.

I won't comment but will repeat:

The Problem With Socialism

A friend of mine in England complained that the police force in their beautiful market town didn't really exist. So, if there was a crime it'd take about an hour or so to drive in from the nearest megacity. She was against firearms ownership, naturally, being a Brit.

I asked her, "So, some guy turns up at your castle with a baseball bat to rape you and kill your kids and you call the cops, right? Two hours later they turn up. Yet another reason for the 2nd Amendment."

Here's the thing, these people live in a dreamworld of unicorns, fairies and rainbow surgery, of unreality. Israel had a dose of that the other week and now the bombs are falling. Why, for a second, do you think the countries of the West are somehow exempt?

War

Wow, you no sooner delete a random reminiscence post about dodgy nightlife in central London in the mid '90s than yet another war breaks out, this time in Israel.

Cause and effect? Delete Groucho's, the Atlantic Bar and Grill, Cafe Boheme and Blacks and get what, a war? Apparently, and you can read all about it here.

It seems as though Hamas raiders caught the IDF napping just at the time they're low on ammunition because of sending all those 155s to Zelensky. But that's as maybe, in the wake of an IDF base being overrun, an IDF General captured and Hamas terrorists roaming seemingly at will through Israeli cities, Bibi's declared a state of war and has vowed, "The enemy will pay an unprecedented price."

They doubtless will and you'll notice none of this, the war in Ukraine, escalation in Armenia, Syria, African coups and now war in Israel happened on 45s watch, yet we were assured that this was precisely the geopolitical chaos unhinged Nazi Trump would lead us to.

Projection? I'd argue yes and urge your prayers for the people of the Holy Land.

Melania Mondays!

If you're a millionaire socialist New Wave has-been, like Bob Geldof, you don't like Mondays and want to shoot the whole day down. But we don't feel that way at the Compound because Monday means Melania Mondays!

A Millionaire Socialist

That's a cause to celebrate as Melania dazzles the world on her first foreign policy trip. Hailed as Trump's "breakout star", the glamorous First Lady's been turning heads from Riyadh to Jerusalem.

Hailed by local Arab press as "conservative and classy," Melania wowed onlookers from the moment she stepped off Airforce One and only continued to impress.

Whether walking with royalty, spending time with children or holding Israel's First Lady's hand, Melania won hearts and minds.

Well done, First Lady, for doing your part to make America great again.

Yom Kippur

Via EBL: Israeli Defense Forces rallied, however, and managed to cut off a large portion of the Egyptian army and IDF forces got within twenty miles of Cairo (and the only reason the Israeli army stopped was political, not due to any significant military resistance at that point). The war ended up being settled by a brokered agreement pushed through by Henry Kissinger and the Americans.

I remember the detritus of that war when I visited friends as a young 'un. One of them had been part of the Entebbe raid. Respect.

Just Some Guys

But look here, leftists. Will you be satisfied when Israel is driven into the sea? No. You won't be satisfied until the West is Muslim and no more.

Lepanto

Remember this, nihilists, that Europe is the Faith and that, per Sobieski and Don Juan, has a habit of rebounding.
