First thing that popped into my mind was a memory of a Cheech and Chong record spinning on my turntable in the 70’s. A much classier time. “He man what are you watching? Aah, some movie about Indians but it’s really boring. That’s not a movie that’s a test pattern man!” See… much classier.
Back at the laser mine, I printed out the Indian test pattern and we used it as one of the test target for the visual optics. Old video heads assert that every part of it has a purpose.
