I like a lot of Hubbard's output. His first album, Ray Wylie Hubbard and the Cowboy Twinkies, was released in 1975 in spite of his protests. Hubbard meant it to be simply he and his band, but against his wishes, some instrumental and vocal tracks were added to make it more "commercial." The instrumental tracks were primarily by fiddler Johnny Gimble and steel guitarist Weldon Myrick, both old pros. The vocals were provided by a group of female vocalists billed as Jet and the Jewels. I've heard the album and it does have strong material, but I see his point, it should not have been remixed over his wishes.
