Texas is Golden

The Mass was offered, ite missa est, go it is sent, and I drove back to the Compound in a golden haze of sunset. It reminded me of the final hour of a dove hunt and I asked myself, "Why is Texas so awesome?" wondering at the providence of it all.

But why. Frontier spirit, big skies, the world's tenth or eleventh highest GDP, putting the Lone Star State above lesser countries such as Canada, Australia and Mexico? Well yes, opportunity, energy and growth, there is that, to say nothing of relative sanity compared to prison gulags like Australia and New York.

Maybe that's part of it. Unlike Alberta, no one here's about to tell you to get a serf vaxxport before you can enter a store. You can even clean the shotguns and pistols you don't have, put 'em in your rig and go out and shoot in a friend's field, we have that freedom. Texas and liberty, two very large things to conjure with.

Let's pray they continue to walk hand in hand. In the meanwhile, it's time to fry up some absurdly cheap, pre-Bidenflation steak. What?!?

Yes, we can eat steak here in Texas, if you know where to look. It's hard to find but you can still get it, as opposed to the soylent cubes and insect hash doled out by our transnational elite, private jet, island owning Millionaire Socialist rulers.

Reading your posts would lead a casual reader to think you like Texas.

Golden indeed. We live an easy drive from a new Kroger. They routinely put cuts of their Nolan Ryan beef on sale. Last week we got sirloin strips for $6.99/lbs.

Made it down to J's on Monday with my youngest son in tow (He drove). He wanted to shoot long distance, so in the afternoon we moved back to the 600 yard platform. With J spotting, he put six rounds into the orange circle. As I remarked over at LL's--

"Loaded up some 308 ammo the other day for my son’s Remington 700. Hornady 155 gr ELD bullets. Went shooting yesterday at a friends property. Friend on spotting scope, son shooting prone off a bag. Applied come-ups to scope. First shot at 12 o’clock in the 8 ring. Elevation adjustment. Next six shots in the X-ring. At 600 yards, first time shooting at that distance. Hooah."

Praise God and pass the ammo. I gotta try that load in my rifle.

You can eat beef if you can afford it. *sigh*

No need to wonder though, Parson, the song says it all. "God Blessed Texas with His own hand.."

You all be safe and God bless!

LSP, you should be exhorting all of us to consume Gate's vat-grown meat. It has all the chemicals that the human body needs.

I'm guessing that Gates will start a campaign soon to get all of America to embrace the Hindu faith, which doesn't prohibit the consumption of vat-grown anything.

Tofu (bean curd) BBQ's up very nicely as well. You could have your congregation over to the compound for a Soylent and bean curd BBQ...I'm sure they'd be delighted.

Seems like yesterday, the then PM of Australia was telling the moslems to adapt or get out. Now this. Stunning. It can and is happening (NYC as you mention) in some places in America.

But get into your meditative state and check out some Santana - Transcendence Oh yes.

So sorry to hear about the loss of all your guns in the boating accident.

My plans for second retirement, although I'll be traveling on 4 wheels, not two.

I might have mentioned it before, but as a character says in a story I am working on: "God spoiled us by making us Texan."
